PIF sports funding

I think there would be plenty of buyers for Newcastle if Saudis called it a day.
Theres a lot of multi billionaires in the world these days.

I'm not too bothered if PIF stayed, they will be scaling down as discussed and they haven't exactly impressed in developing the club on or off the pitch.
I think the ideal scenario is that PIF continues to own them, but invests the bare minimum to keep them going. I honestly don't understand how an investment fund would see owning a football club as something they're going to get big returns on. Especially as we move further into a world where being self sustainable is the expectation.

Why they pulled the plug on the golf? Surely that would come under entertainment?

The way it was worded in the OP makes it sound like they are selling up on all sporting assets and moving onto something else which is clearly not the case.

I’m not sure what clearly is the case tbh mate. For them to pull the plug on the golf a day before a tournament in Mexico isn’t a good look at all and I would be worried if it was us.

Was talking to someone about club valuations the other day and the Americans think our clubs are massively undervalued in comparison to NFL teams where the clubs are valued far higher but the TV deals are far lower. I’d expect the value PIF see is in what the next TV deal looks like. Putting £1bn into a a new stadium and training ground won’t add anywhere near that level of value to the club. The next TV deal is where the value comes from and all you have to do to get that is be in the league …. Mind that’s easier said than done, just look at Spurs!
