Legends Way fan vote: choose the 14 legends

That wasn't the question to be fair. It was "pick your 14 legends". 15 year old Sunderland fans care more about Defoe or Scott than Doig or Thorpe. They also saw them play and know about them. They probably don't give a shit who was top scorer in the 1894/95 season.
This is why the stones are so important. Educate fans who don't know their history. They should and would have known who our top ever scorer is. Instead, they've got no idea who any of our players are, and think the jungle queen is one of, if not the, greatest players ever to play for safc.
Madness

The vast majority of Sunderland fans wouldn’t even know what position she played.

I don’t, don’t care either. Women’s football is still crap imo.

I knew there would be a woman player included for political correctness.
Its ridiculous, no way on earth did she get enough votes to be in the top 14, even if she had got 0 votes they would have still included her. A true 'legend' will have missed out to include her.
The club loves a good virtue signal, they are masters of it

Jermain Defoe

People get upset about Borini not wanting to play for us - a myth they made up in their head - and vote for the fella who didn't want to play for us and walked out on the club in the middle of a promotion battle with a pack of made up lies leaving us with one fit centre forward.

People on the internet might get upset about Borini, but they're definitely not the ones voting for Defoe either.

Your average fan loves them both. I doubt anyone in the real world is losing sleep over a marketing campaign to sell bricks.

I appreciate not everyone is into the history of SAFC, but the absence of the following names from this makes it a bit of a farce really.

James Allan, Johnny Campbell, Arthur Bridget, George Holley, Bobby Gurney, Charlie Buchan, Tom Watson, Ned Doug, Sandy McAlister, Dave Halliday and Johnny Mapson.

Above list off the top of my head and will be loads of others.

I think no Thorpe is the biggest travesty. Literally died as a result of playing for us. The ultimate legend status should be bestowed on him.

This will be a first stage imo. It will be added to over time when for want of a better phrase 'new legends' come to the fore.

Annoyed me more than it should have this mind

Why was she even nominated? On what criteria? Just shows she was always guaranteed to be put in it.

He was my first selection. I can only assume that most people dont know who he is otherwise he should have definitely made the 14
