Bayern want Brobbey

Cheeky swap for Kane and he comes back to break Shera's record with us

Kane Zhaka double act
our squad is worth a small fortune. full faith in the recruitment team. we could sell Brobbey for £40m or something and they probably already have a replacement in mind right now should it happen

i do think we'll make at least one big sale. i expect Roefs to go for silly money in the summer. will hang onto Sadiki for another year then silly money again for him next summer. keep doing that every year and recruiting wisely and we're absolutely laughing

Seriously if we could hold the entire team together and add 4 top players we could push for champions league next season….. did I just say that 😵‍💫

I had a frank and open discussion with a mag on socials about him after they 'stole' him from under Buy'ems nose. He'd clearly never heard of him before the scarf picture and kept saying he's Germany's first choice striker. 🤣🤣

He only got called up for the full national team, AFTER signing for them, because of injuries to the main players.
There were some brilliant posts at the time about it all from people who’d never heard of him before deadline day. And it didn’t help that he started like a house on fire either. All looks hilarious in hindsight now. Remember that “Invested in Better” photo they tweeted and they genuinely believed he was better than Isak.

Shearer's record is a pointless stat. Jimmy Greaves holds the real record.
Kane has a few champions League campaigns left in him yet.
Shearer's record is totally pointless. It ignores 20+ of own top flight goals for Southampton.
He's irreplaceable.

The irreplaceable was Brobbey. Forum added my reply as an edit.

Tbf I think Brobbey is unique, absolutely no Replacing him adequately

That’s very true and there are signs of a pivot away from the Pep-style playing from the back with a high press on the opposition so players like Brobbey will become more sought after. Ultimately though if we’re signing players on the basis that we won’t stand in their way should big clubs come in with big offers then we have to have a plan for what follows and given the club’s job adverts currently out there for data scientists it suggests we have.

Don’t see this as anything other than speculation of replacing Kane. Bayern want Kayne to extend.
Brobbey was at Leipzig for a year and didn’t settle, didn’t like Germany. Mind Leipzig and that part of Germany have a right wing issue and fair bit of racism

Wouldn’t sell for any price tbh, so important to the way we play

He is but we don’t want some pissed off player on our hands either creating a toxic environment around the place. At the end of the day if someone like Bayern Munich come calling you just have to get the best price you can. If it’s Bournemouth you tell him to suck it up and carry on playing

Surprised they’d want Kanye then!

I suppose it’s better than not being able to give away your players, going to be like this all summer. Trust the people to be able to replace them but would love a full season of fully fit BB

Yeah if he wants to go that’s different, don’t want unhappy players in the squad obviously

I'm always intrigued by the idea that we must always accept that we are a small club and that a 'big club' can come, simply 'flash the cash' and we must then invariably sell our players to them.

Similarly, I am also puzzled by how excited some people seem to get at the prospect of the club selling good players for large amounts of money, as if having a bank balance with lots of noughts at the end will be something we can cheer and ogle at on a Saturday afternoon. For example, the prospect of selling Roefs for £60m, which would represent a profit of about £49m seems to excite people inordinately. Except no consideration seems to be given to the fact that the only way we could have a more effective last line of defence is if we were allowed to take the £60m in cash and stack it between the posts. Or if Brobbey could be replaced by Mbappe, because Kylian had mentioned to his mate Nordi that he's heard good things about Dickson's saveloy dips and would like to try them.

I think the excitement is based on the idea that with 'loads of money', our Director of Football will be able to replicate his success in the Summer 2025 transfer window time after time. Having been fortunate enough to have put together the best squad of players that I have seen (and I've been supporting the club since 1962), I think that the likelihood of Ghisolfi being able to regularly replace what we have got with the equivalent, or better, standard of players is unlikely.

If we are to believe Louis-Dreyfus' claim to be ambitious, in terms of the club's success, then at some point we have to start acting like a 'big club' ourselves and retain the services of our better players and then add to them, so that we keep the star performers and replace the journeymen with players who could genuinely step in to the team in the event of an injury, suspension or loss of form and there not be an obvious diminution in quality.
