PPM 25/26

Coeus

Striker
I've always been interested in the points per match stat since Dobson always hammered McGeady in League One. I'm not suggesting it perfectly encapsulates intangibles, but it does provide something to mull ove, to my mind anyway. I tend to have a browse towards the end of the season, and it normally provides some interesting stuff.

The below is from the current season and only players who have played 6 or more games in order to filter outliers like Ellborg, having played 3 and topping our ppm:

Top 5:
Rigg 14 mp, 1.86 ppm.
Traore 12 mp, 1.75 ppm.
Reinildo 19 mp, 1.68 ppm.
Sadicki 27 mp, 1.56 ppm.
Xhaka 28 mp, 1.54 ppm.

I found this pretty interesting; it appears to support the general feeling that Noah and Reinildo are extremely important, but also questions whether Rigg and Troare are more important than I would have assumed.

Bottom 5:
Mayenda 19 mp, 1.26 ppm.
Geertruida 25 mp, 1.24 ppm.
Mundle 14 mp, 1.14 ppm.
Adingra 14 mp, 1.07 ppm.
Cirkin 7 mp, 0.86 ppm.

Interestingly enough, Brobbey and Ballard were 6th and 7th, so lots of salt needed, but I think this suggests Adingra doesn't work in this system and perhaps Geertruida's purchase isn't as much of a no-brainer as some think? Im a big fan of Cirkin, but the contrast between him and Reinildo is large, even though Cirkin's pool of stats is small, given his injury issues it wont come as a surprise if no agreement is made.

It's also worth noting that most (if not all) of Cirkin's starts came at a time when half our team was at AFCON. Don't recall him playing much when we've had a near enough full strength squad to choose from

Absolutely, its far from straight forward, still surprised by Riggs as his matches must have been heavily weighted by afcon also.

until recently many of riggs games were sub appearnaces when seeing out a game. i dont recall him being thrown on when a goal or two down to try and change the game ? Its probably impossible to work out but for players like Rigg, talbi etc... who have made a fair few appearances off the bench it would be interesting to see what influence theyve had on games after entering the field.

Not particularly. He didn’t play much at all December and January. First 2 games of afcon then didn’t feature at all for 7 games.

Appearances v West Ham,forest,Chelsea and wolves for about 90minutes combined give him 12points. Last 4 games he has 9 points despite only playing a minute at Leeds with 2 full 90s and a 75.

He’s got a bit of a padded record.

Xhaka and Sadiki are a good barometer of where we are because that’s top 8 form over a season
