Bayern want Brobbey

brace yasells lads and lasses it’s goin to be a long summer of this….but I do find this to be a significant compliment to us btw, who would think the likes of bayern who played real madrid off the park a few weeks back would be interested in a newly promoted teams players

mentioned this on sunday big bri will have a few suitors but he’d still be behind kane if he went and he hardly set the bundesliga alight last time out. he’s more suited to the physical prem style of football but who knows

Bayern won't pay the money that would be required for us to part with Brobbey. They wouldn't go any higher than €40m for Woltermackem in the summer (rightly so) and they're now linked with Gordon.

They may try a lowball offer, but I reckon they'll be in for Dusan Vlahovic who's on a free this summer from Juve.

Not saying you're wrong about them potentially wanting him but not sure it'd be one or the other because Vlahovic is about as far from Brobbey as you can get in types of striker. Brobbey holds the ball up more in one match than Vlahovic probably has done in his entire career.

Stays he stays, goes he goes. Our recruitment is built on showing young players that if they come here, work hard and deliver on the pitch, we’ll happily let you go to a bigger and better club.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him stay for another year though, we’d essentially need to replace Brobbey & Isidor, and potentially Mayenda if he doesn’t kick on.

Wouldn’t sell for any price tbh, so important to the way we play

He absolutely is, he's central to how we've set up and played it this season.
I would add 2 things though:
1 given our rate of "hits" in new signings - for the first time in my SAFC supporting life I have faith in the recruitment team
2 after our first Premier League season of safety first football, we may start to develop and change the way we play meaning we rely on him a bit less and look for someone different

Bayern buying Brian Brobbey?

I challenge anyone to clearly say that 5 times in quick succession after a few beers, even without a few beers its a tricky tongue twister

They've still got Kane who plays the lone striker role well, as does Vlahovic. Bayern maybe tempted to try a cheeky bid to see if it would unsettled Brobbey, but I doubt they'd pay what we'd really need to let him go. He's become too important now.

Vlahovic is no slouch, especially when Bayern have wide men that can feed the striker too. It's not like Bayern have to play with someone who holds the ball up anyway.

Vlahovic offers much better value on a free transfer and only being a year older than Brobbey.

This is going to be one stressful summer. Fortunately, KLD and co. seem to know what they’re doing so I have every faith they’ll have a plan for this sort thing.
Nothing to stress about. This is the model and we need to get used to it. Us doing well and losing players is a sign that we are doing things correctly

Agree about the fee.

They'd have took a punt on developing Woltemade as a back up if Stuttgart would've took €25-30m, which Stuttgart would have most likely took their hands off for. But as soon as the mags came sniffing they dropped interest.

Unless its a marque signing, like Kane, even Buy'em have a limit. There's imho not the need or the interest in getting into bidding wars for more 'fringe' players.

IF Brobbey has another season with us and performs as well or better they might renew their interest as Kane's contract winds down but I still think "Premier League tax" would be a factor for them.

Only stupid nephews with more money and control than sense pay over the odds.

Headline says they are chasing him, but then the detail says they are simply monitoring.
Surely the scouting team at Bayern Munich constantly monitor 100s of potential targets, doesn't mean they are going to buy them.
At this rate their forward line will be Brobbey,Kane and Woltemackem.

I fear that Brobbey is far far too good to stay at Sunderland for another season
The old Sunderland maybe, this Sunderland is a completely different beast.

I imagine, and this is just my pov, that as much as we're set up as a team/club who gives opportunities to players and helps them to progress, that behind the scenes it's made clear to the players from the get go ANYONE who doesn't buy into our plans, isn't cutting the mustard or simply won't put the necessary effort in will be swiftly found out and offered alternative football options.
At this rate their forward line will be Brobbey,Kane and Woltemackem.
I'd not be surprised if they did take Woltemade off the mags in the future. Especially if he continues to be ruined by poor management and trying to shoe horn him into playing a set up that fails to play to his strengths.

If I understand 'the model' correctly, the recruitment team will already have a list of targets of suitable replacements for each player in the squad. It's not that different to how we operated in the Championship, just with bigger numbers. Target youngish players with high potential (but add a bit of top level experience), bring them on/give them opportunities they weren't getting elsewhere and don't stand in their way if a big money move comes around.

The difference now is, after the season we've had, we've given players less of a reason to want away - Sunderland is the opportunity, not just a shop window. But if those CL elite clubs do come calling, enjoy the profit and re-invest.

Not surprised, he's mint.
He's lovely.
