Well exactly, there was nothing to it all and was entirely different to somebody pulling someone’s hair hard to hurt them, surely officials and people can tell the difference after watching that replay.

terrible decision imo.

It’s this ridiculous pursuit that will never happen trying to get consistency to blame.

All fouls are different none are the same, that was never a sending off in a million years
 

Don't pull hair. You'd think that would be a fairly simple rule to follow. It's not like any other type of fouling. It's a deliberate act that can be simply avoided.
 
Romero was obstructing Brobbey, slowing down in front of him and making no attempt to play the ball. Brobbey doesn’t so much push him as stick his arms out which is the natural thing to do. Never a card. If you don’t believe me try running into a brick wall and you’ll find instinct takes over and makes you put your arms out.
Pulling hair is cheating and against the rules. It’s irrelevant how much it hurts the other bloke. Putting twelve men on the pitch is against the rules but doesn’t physically hurt anyone. That’s besides the point.

'How come he got a red but there's didn't.'

Wince every time I hear it. The mentality of a 9 year old when they get caught doing something the shouldn't.

It should never be a red but I know why the refs feel they have to give it.

Yeah they feel they have to give it, as trying to achieve consistency which is impossible.

Fouls and sending offs are subjective and refs should just give what they see and everybody should accept that sometimes they will get decisions their way and sometimes they won’t.

Football was like that for 100 years and nowt wrong with it.

Now in this modern era you have these stupid farcical decisions like yesterday in the name of consistency!!

Can you be sure after watching the replay though that in that split second of jostling with Calvert Lewin that he deliberately grabbed and pulled his hair?

Or has he just grabbed onto something and that happened to be his hair?

For me it's not a blatant and obvious pull on the hair. It's a harsh red card for me. If a player is chasing another and clearly grabs onto his hair then that was what the rule was introduced for.

I guess only Martinez himself will know whether he pulled onto the hair deliberately.

Yes. He even has a second go. It's clearly deliberate. There's absolutely no mitigating circumstances for pulling someone's hair imo. You can't do it accidentally.

Of course you can...it's a physical game. Players grab onto each other's shirts all of the time when jostling for the ball.

Given that Martinez is a dirty player, I'm leaning towards it being deliberate. I just think there's enough doubt / ambiguity there for it not to be a red.
 
I know every incident is looked at separately and are covered by different laws.

However, you can't be sending players off for this if Justin's challenge in the first half is only classed as a booking.

Justin's challenge was only a booking in my opinion.

Martinez should not be sent off in my opinion.

My opinion is irrelevant but one challenge could break a leg and the other challenge someone lost his bobble.

Red cards are also needed to stop games falling into farce though. Loads of petulant off the ball incidence like a kick out or treading on an opponent's back are not going to injure an opponent but they are outlawed because allowing them would just lead to an escalation of tit for tat nonsense that would ruin the game. A strong mistimed tackle is tolerated more because they are a necessary part of the game even though they are likely to cause greater injury.
 
One of the finest thhings I saw at The Baggies was Jonas Olssen picking ( M)Andy Carrol up off the floor by his pony-tail. :D
