Legends Way fan vote: choose the 14 legends

Keira Ramshaw played 300 odd games for Sunderland (which in womens football is an unbelievable number as they play less games), basically the Jimmy Montgomery of Sunderland Women.

Jill Scott is a good ambassador and does great stuff with the academy, but she didn’t actually do much as a player here. Thats what I don’t like about. If you’re going to include a women, include one who is a legend for the womens team and not just the famous one.
Great lass Kiera too and Sunderland mad, agree would have been more fitting

That wasn't the question to be fair. It was "pick your 14 legends". 15 year old Sunderland fans care more about Defoe or Scott than Doig or Thorpe. They also saw them play and know about them. They probably don't give a shit who was top scorer in the 1894/95 season.
That’s why it shouldn’t have been a f***ing vote for kids who watch I’m a celebrity. Scott is more famous for eating kangaroo penis. Safc legend??? What a joke.

As harsh as it sounds I think the 73 squad have had there day in the sun.

Will only Vote for Kerr and porterfield

Dave Watson is an all time great and deserves his place. 200 plus appearances and silverware. Went on to play for 60+ for England. I’d say similar about Colin Todd.

In terms of both ability and service, they deserve their place on the path far more than some of the others shortlisted.

Jill Scott’s a great ambassador for the city and the area. Frequently mentions the city/club on the biggest football podcast in the country. The Women’s team deserve representation on any list. She got the votes and deserves a place. To say otherwise is just misogyny.

On that logic, you might as well have Lauren laverne or Charlotte crosby.

If you want a token female player, theres far better examples like the one previously mentioned or even Beth Mead who achieved loads more actually playing for the club. Peter Reid & Bob Murray being on the list are just as tenuous.

Claiming she’s a “Sunderland legend” is taking the piss a bit, mind.

A couple of weeks ago I was very bored in work, so did some data scraping to try and find out exactly how many games have been played at the SoL.

I had a ball park figure of 715 (including internationals and friendlies) then totally hit a wall trying to find out how many women’s games have been played at the ground. I found 7 over the past couple of seasons, and then totally hit a wall because up until a couple of years ago, absolutely no-one gave a shit about women’s football. This is to say that it’s very possible we’re saying someone is a club legend who’s never even kicked a ball at the SoL…

(if anyone can tell me otherwise and provide any of the missing data, do let me know)

Rubbish. It's nothing to do with misogyny.

And being an ambassador for the city is nothing to do with being an SAFC legend.

It's an insult to other women who have played and achieved more with Sunderland, let alone men.

It's a distraction to say this is misogyny or sexism.

David Bruce played for the U14s as Goalkeeper, look what hes done since for the club..should have been a nominee

Everyones having a go at Jill Scott, but least she's actually from here.

Defoe is much much worse imo, what did he exactly do? He played a couple seasons, one being the relegation to the Championship and the dark years and his return - less said. No way is he in the top 14 legends ever for the club.
