Would anyone from this PL Lineup get into our current team?

Defoe. If you have to play two up front to keep Brobey in, so be it.
Pickford & Roefs a toss-up.
Maybe Borini as at least a sub, wingers haven't really been special.

I really thought I was going to see the squad from the 15-point season. I'd find a way to play Arca, maybe as a left wing, but that's about it.

O'Shea would be nowhere near, absolutely nowhere near.

Well he probably would considering O’Nien has started the last two. That puts him at least ‘near’.

I think Roefs is better now than Pickford was with us. Pickford maybe the more eye catching shot stopper but the distribution ability and composure from Roefs defies his years like.

Roefs is the best I’ve seen for us. He’s genuinely elite

Defoe at his peak... instantly our best striker.

Would we create enough for such a forward though?

Imagine an old school pairing of him and Brobbey in a 4 - 4 - 2 formation 🤤

You’ve picked one of our worst lineups there but I’m interested in comparing it to one of our best

Gordon
Bardsley
Onuoha
Bramble
Turner
Henderson
Cattermole
Zenden
Richardson
Gyan
Welbeck

That side beat Chelsea 3-0 and recorded our highest ever finish in the last spell in the prem.

We’re only 1 point away from beating their points tally with 6 games to go. You’d expect it to be close, but bar Gordon, Henderson, Gyan and welbeck mos wouldn’t get near this side and even then I imagine some will argue against one or more of the four I listed.

One of our best ever sides in the post war era no doubts.

It's 2017 O'Shea though who could barely move, he'd be behind Ballard, Alderete, O'Nien, Geertruida and Mukiele now. Could argue the toss that he'd make the bench ahead of a Jones but current O'Nien is a lot better than 2017 O'Shea.

No because I don't think they have the right character or work rate for a Regis team. Love Defoe, but wouldn't really fit into what we need now compared to Brobbey.....and Khazri was talented but not defensively good enough for how we currently play.

Two or three would be on the bench.

I know it’s probably not fashionable to say it, but both Turner and Bramble were good top flight defenders over a long period of time for different clubs. So both would certainly compete with O’Nien.

The current side is collectively better, though that team had some very good players. Our current full backs of Mukiele and Reinildo are significantly better than Bardsley and Onouha however.

Borini off the bench would be nice

That team is absolutely horrific though

Djiloboji ffs

Got to be up there with our worst ever signings
Bought for a fortune off Chelsea, got us relegated, then came back after the summer late and unfit and got sacked
Horrific signing and we could all pretty much see it as well. Nothing suggested he was any good, Chelsea sussed him out pretty quickly and didn't even play him

Assuming they were all still the same age and 'talent' they were at the time. This was our relegation season.
Defoe and that's it

Roefs has the potential to be better than Pickford but given what Pickford achieved in his career, it’s hard to say Roefs is better yet. Maybe it’s a different discussion in 5 years though.

O’Shea would be pretty good in our current team as backup to Ballard and Alderete.

That’s it really - take Borini for the mags games as he always scores

People saying no to Pickford is a mad one like. He's in the prime of his career and has proven to be world class over a number of years. England and Everton's best ever keeper. Roefs has had a fantastic first PL season but he's not on Pickfords level yet

For what it's worth, I think O'Shea was massively overrated for us. A model pro and 'servant' but I don't think he was particularly good (especially compared to Brown, when fit...)
O'Shea played quite a bit at right back for Man Utd. He was a bit part player for them, filling in for injuries and getting his spot on merit now and again.

For me John O'Shea at his absolute pomp wouldn't get a game for us ahead of Alderete and Ballard on this seasons form.
