Drinking in Sunderland City Centre - restored

Well out of the six that were in on Friday I knew three of them and four of them were locals
You are an excellent poster and your contribution to the board on what’s happening in Sunderland especially its social scene is very helpful and informative and a great source of reference. That said, you appear to take it personal if someone is not in agreement with you and sometimes find it hard to accept not every restaurant, pub or coffee shop in the city are very good.

The original comments on the Lansdowne were made by a number of individuals, myself included about how successful the new Management would make it along with severe doubts on how long they would last there. You have confirmed that only 6 people of which 4 of them were locals were in the pub at 6pm on Friday night which is one of the busiest nights of the week for people going out for a drink. That number of customers is very low for any pub and probably backs up the comments that have been made about the competence of the new Landlord and his poor track record in running pubs in the past.

Called out after work for a couple unplanned yesterday.

Keel tavern first, I do under appreciate this pub because whenever I'm in (not very often) I absolutely love the place.

Afterwards I made the mistake of calling into The Vault Yard, first time in for a good few months and it's an utterly depressing place.
Love the KT me like and cant agree more ref vault yard, full of old gadgies eyeing ya bird up

They were having a function later I think as there were tables were set out with wine glasses and napkins.

The new owner has just took over so its early days.

Everyone on this forum is entitled to an an opinion we all get it right and wrong at times.

I would't say a was taling it personal about the Lansdowe I have nothig to gain if the place suceeds or not.

Thanks for the initial complements very kind.

We were in vaults yard when it first opened and quite liked it. However, was in last Saturday and I was quite taken aback at how poor it was. Full of older folk, and was a bit depressing. Won’t be back.

Absolute lesson in respectfully making your point. Proper gent.

a mate of ours, his brother in law is a spurs fan, and was up for the match. Met at dunn cow pre-match, before one in the Peacock, then Keel Tavern before ambling over the bridge.
Sheepfolds after the game, then three stories before he headed off from the train station. So much to be proud of a show off these days and he couldn't have been more complimentary, even taking the result into account

30 years since i had a pint in there but if I ever drive to game or going to town gigs I park right there and it always seemed empty so I just think it's a big ask whatever they try . A video came up on my phone of weekend gone . He had a X factor guy on singing tunes . There were a few people in but no more than 12 I'd say . Other vids I found were less people. The message seemed to be bring the lasses in like it's maybe a blokes bar.

Last weekend the idiot new Landlord told a lad that has been drinking in there for 25 years he did not want any locals in as he wanted a different crowd in the pub under his management. He certainly got his wish as all the locals who have drank there for years are avoiding the place and are going into the Gardeners which has recently been refurbished and a much better pub.

A shit attitude from him that mind
I don’t mind going in when it’s busy cos you know you’ll get served straight away. Same with Peacock.

Three Stories could learn from them.

Yes the peacock staff are excellent when busy

Unfortunatly if ' older folk ' didn't drink in the town they would be empty, especially late aftrnoon / early evening.
License some care homes eh!
Shocking post

Sorry then I was trying to be diplomatic. It was full of reform voters who, like another poster has said, were standing ogling other peoples lasses.

Plenty other bars to go in that don’t have the atmosphere like that did.
