Was thinking the same thing seeing his 87 last week and now slated to open again.

At a guess he's realised his bowling isn't strong enough to hold down a place in FC cricket. So he needs to add another string to his bow.

Worked for Borthwick at the end of the day. Good luck to him if that's the case.

But you might be right that he's just filling a need also.
