The lads v spurs (most important fixture this weekend)

My eyes were on 7th at best, 8th (slightly) more realistically. I didn't even consider 6th, but you're absolutely right.

I think what makes it most interesting is that therell be a real hunger for the chasing teams this season to get European football. When it’s the usual suspects making up the top 8 or 9, sometimes they’ll see Europa or Conference as a booby prize they’d rather avoid.

At the start of the season many of us were saying we'd be happy to finish 17th and stay up, however the team has far exceeded that. To be at this point in the season and it's Spurs fighting relegation and us for europe, a role reversal, is just class as owt!

Ohh and 6 points off the Scum, is a dream come true!

I don’t think of much things in the wider context. What I mean is most things I read about I only think about how it affects me and when it comes to a football game how it affects Sunderland AFC. This is not about sending Tottenham Hotspur down. It’s about whether we can get 3 points and get ourselves up the table and make this season even better than it started out being. A win would take us to about 7th or 8th. It would see us on 46 points with Brentford and Everton but GD and results for both teams decides where we go. That’s more important than sending Tottenham Hotspur down.
Would only take us to 10th but that'll do me, after the back end of last season we know regis will be planning something so hopefully it'll come good again and we'll get one of those European places

With spurs being right in the thick of a relegation fight, de zerbi coming in and the lads still with an outside chance of Europe it’s arguably the biggest fixture of the weekend, just shows how far we have come that fans of the game around the world will have there eyes on this game.

Let’s get right behind the side and show the watching world we are safc and turn the cockneys over. Ftm
Agree. Europe is going right ujder the radar with us but I genuinely think villa will win the Europa so there’ll be at least 8 teams in Europe. We have a hell of a chance still and a win today we are right in the mix. The top 13 are to be honest but why not us

We're 3 points offEurope, 6 off a CL place....it's only over if we want it to be.
Saved is replying the same thing. Mental how people think our season is over literally shows the ambition of some fans. Might never get. A better chance with how congested it is n the fact anyone can literally win anyone this season. Apart from wolves Burnley n spurs like

I think it’s a huge game for us as well. A win, and we’re relatively likely to finish the weekend 2 points from 6th which is extraordinary with half a dozen left to play. It’ll keep the excitement going which is quite important leading into a new campaign.

A loss and it’ll feel like season securely which is still some achievement.

Few more twists & turns, but I can help looking at Chelsea being the last match of the season. If we can get within two points of them for the last day, we’ve all of a sudden got a mini cup final on our hands.

There’s a decent chance Chelsea might have the small issue of an FA Cup final the weekend before too.

I’ll not get too carried away, cos it all could disappear if we don’t get today & maybe next week right, but a solid set of results over the next few matches could make it very interesting

Been reading so much shite this past week on De Zerbi supposedly being Sir Alex in disguise. They were doing paper talk on Sky Sports and according to the Independent he’s “already given them their best coaching in years. More than Frank, Ange and Tudor combined.”

Never seen a puff piece quite like it. He’s bang average with a shite haircut.

Not only do I want us to bring them back down to earth but I would absolutely love it if they get relegated.
“Best coaching in years”, where have I heard something similar before?
Ah yes,
Mr Michael Beale.

The whole article is nothing but an embarrassing puff piece. Should give it a read, there’s some whoppers in there like “Spurs already see why Pep Guardiola admires De Zerbi” 😂

3 out of the next 4 games against teams in the bottom 5 with Wolves being officially down by the time we play them, really big chance to put ourselves firmly in the European race starting today
