Jared Gillet

If he's a tremendous referee but appalling whenever he's in the in charge of Sunderland games, would that indicate some kind of bias against Sunderland? 🤔😉🤪
Already said mate no idea how good a ref he is, don’t watch him enough.

Common sense suggests the people who have decided he has been selected for World Cup are miles more informed than you or I.

As for any bias against Sunderland care to give any logic or reason why that would be the case?

That’s the problem on threads like these marra, you have refs or officials selected on merit for certain things over a number of games by people who has miles more information on them then anyone on here.

Yet because he probably gave a couple of bad decisions against their team they apparently a load of shit and get called all sorts

And it’s me been a dick?

I see it as been fair rather than calling people for giving honest decisions
He's been selected as a specialist VAR. Everyone on here, whether justifiably or not, hate him as the on field ref. We're arguing over nowt. However, the Dan Neil incident and his quite frankly bizzare performance at Bournemouth give some justification for the criticism. He was nailed on for the League Cup Final but got switched off it so that merit argument is a bit weaker this time.

Honestly mate I have no idea, as don’t watch him enough or seen him in enough games to have a strong opinion.

when I watch football I watch the players not the refs.

However what I try to do is put logic and fairness to any debate, and the very fact he has made it to the top domestic league in the world and now selected for the World Cup all be it only VAR ref

Strongly suggests he doing more things right than wrong?

That’s just obvious and common sense
I'd suggest before commenting , you do Watch him.. Its every week now. Since last season and the one before he become worse week on week. with scores around 4.5/6. He had a run very recently where he was making mistakes week upon week and was dropped I believe over an 8 week period , 4 times. I've nothing against a decent referee providing they maintain some semblance of a standard and consistently stick to the laws of the game and act sensibly in certain situations. They all undergo the same training and classroom courses to understand the Game Law and theirs interpretation. Gillet, for what ever reason is a very poor referee.

Ok Pinocchio ;)
I do I find it boring going to watch a match looking at a ref rather than the skillful players in show.

And these people who look up during the week who the ref is going to be for their game at the weekend find weird.

Me personally would be more a lot more concerned if best players fit for the game

If he gets dropped to the championship next season that will mean he has had bad season so fair play we agree totally if that happens.

As my point is the people who make these decisions are in a more informed position than you or I.

I genuinely have no idea how good he is, but logic tells me he must be canny enough to be there in the first place.

That just makes sense to my logical mind mate

I don’t understand what he’s even doing over here? Surely we’ve enough refs who aren’t good enough for the PL of our own?

I note with interest nobody giving any logic way he selected for the VAR at the World Cup.

If it’s not that the powers of be have evidence he good.

What else could it be????

Because he is one of the golden boys for some reason. Some as he came over to England he was going to the premier league no matter what. It’s why he done 0 non league matches and about 3 in league 1 or 2 because he was bumped to the premier league. Pawson is the same. Tha Fari Hallam is shaping up the same

Well that’s the question?

Why is he well thought off or if you like ‘ golden boy’

Why did he go straight to premier league?

Only logic I think off is he was very good previously.

Unless anyone can suggest another logical reason?
