Optimism and self belief appears to be in short supply on Teesside at present which is odd for a side who are effectively 2nd in the Championship, have had a good season to date and with a decent chance of achieving promotion. Pompey are fourth bottom of the league and with Millwall dropping points at West Bromwich last night they are presented with a real opportunity to take the initiative in the promotion race today with Ipswich playing an in form Norwich earlier.
I am told that Boro matches against Portsmouth of late have been frustrating, time wasting affairs and the natives fear it will be just be another carbon copy of recent home matches against Bristol, Charlton, Leicester and Oxford; wasted chances and get sucker punched. My old adversary Tearoom Expert reckons it'll be a 2 2 draw.... We'll see
