They're in big trouble

These days £80m is probably the going rate for guimares. Current Brazilian international and is a much better all round midfielder than tonali.
28 and 2 years left on his deal. Doubt they get north of £50m for him. And that goes down again if they don't shift him this summer

I think they need a fast start this summer, and move on players as quickly as possible. That'll work with Tonali, but the other likely wantaways (Liveramento, Gordon, Woltemade) will be focussed on the WC til July. And I suspect there'll also be a lot of noise about players who should be in the ECL - Bruno and Hall, maybe Thiaw too. They'll also have to swallow a massive loss on a few players - Woltemade, Wissa and that Greek keeper for sure, possibly Elanga and Osula too.

What they really need to do is accept that they're in a rebuild mode and sell to buy players who'll serve them for the next 5 years. What's more likely is that they'll repeat the mistakes of last summer and work under the delusion that they're a peer of Liverpool, Chelsea, Man U etc. and find themselves getting humiliated throughout the window.

If they start next season with Howe in charge, a couple of first teamers gone and a few others on the verge of going - and all without making any major additions - I think they could be in real trouble. Their squad is full of absolute dross, they're a so-so team that has been carried by some very good individuals. You could see them doing a Spurs in that instance.

That said, they could rake in £200m or so early by punting on 4 or 5 players and build a virtually new starting XI of decent young players. That's what they should do, but I'm not sure their egos would allow for it. Imagine the reaction if the likes of Man U and Liverpool take all their best players. How can you still pretend to be an elite club after that?
Absolutely bang on. Delusion rife in the fanbase and a club that panders to it every chance they get. It's a beautiful combo and the reason why they'll never really achieve owt

This is spot on.

If i were them i'd be cashing in on Tonali (wants away), Woltemade (not working) and Livramento (injury prone). Ideally you'd sell Wissa as well but not sure anyone would want him.

You'd probably get around £150m for those 3. They could then bring in 4/5 very good younger players in the 22-25 age range who have high ceilings. This was the market they bought Gordon, Bruno, Isak, Thiaw from but they've abandoned that in recent years to focusing on "premier league proven".

I'd be keeping hold of Hall and Gordon because i think they are players who would thrive in a younger team. Bruno at 28 probably isn't worth selling as you could get another 2/3 really good years out of him and he could be that experienced head.

I think another thing to look at is that PIF don't need the money and don't really give a monkeys about the club anymore. They won't let any players go unless it's for a fat fee and they're going price themselves out of the market, but they're going to care of they're puddling about unhappy on fat wages.

Suspect that Mag and Saudi arrogance are good bedfellows in truth. Each feeds off each other. And hopefully prevents them from ever building a solid, high-achieving club

Hall is a funny one - a properly good player going forward but a fairly easy defender to beat. He'd be great in a great team but probably a luxury for the mags. If he had a breakthrough WC they'd probably be best off cashing in and reinvesting.

I suspect Bruno will agitate for a move, or else push for an insane new contract that'll really hamstring their spending ability. Gordon has the ego to expect CL football too, they could have a few Isaks on their hands again.

Not sure a Sunderland fan should be offering them sensible advice like.😉

f***ing Thiaw man, he's a bottom half prem player at absolute best! Nowhere near worth the 40m they spent on him, absolutely brain-dead.

This thread will get bumped to fuck when they finish ahead of us.

Ive put the 12 minute highlights on for you to enjoy. See if you can spot yourself in the crowd, I think you're the big fat ugly one behind the goal screaming abuse at brobbey when he knocked in the winner to make it 8 wins from the last 9 premier league games between the 2 sides 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ive only seen Hall v Sunderland because I cannot bring myself to watch the fuckers. In fact, I still havent seen their goals in the league cup final last season. Apart from putting a good cross in for Elanga in the 1st few minutes at the shit tip, he's looked bang average in those 2 games to me and Le Fee has megged him twice

He's usually tongue-punching Saudi hoop, anarl. Or am I confusing him with another (of many) baldy heed Saudi sycophants?
