Craft Beer

Bloody Youtube Algo pushed "these lagers are great" on me. Haven't drank lager for absolutely years, but now I've got a bag of apparently excellent stuff in the boot (must go and get it out, I keep forgetting!).

Augustiner Helles being the one I've been told is fantastic. Paulaner helles, Pilnser Urqell & Estrella Galicia as well. Had to drive to a proper Sainsbury's to find the stuff. There were a couple of others I couldn't get at the time for the full "best UK lagers" collection (Budvar, surprisingly couldn't find - and Spaten)

We'll see!
At worst, I'll chill the arse off them and drink them in the hot tub.

Wish me luck

I can tolerate lager on holiday in the sun, but here its an absolute last resort, usually in places we've gone for food that have nothing else. Even then sometimes I'll just get a diet coke.

Same, sunny holiday, its great - although only decent stuff. That's why my "lager is still shit" backup plan is to have it in the hottub!

Day on the pop in Darlo on Friday. Looking forward to it. Orb always great. Interesting to see how Craftys is getting on since its reopening. Angels cut does some decent stuff too, although it's openings can be random. House of Hop will be also be frequented. Great little day out and just down the road.

Along these lines, although not quite as extreme. Love Rauchbier/smoked lagers and Donzoko knocks out some great stuff too.

Never had a craft lager i thought was any better than a decent pint of say Cruzcampo, which was the last lager i had. I have got one in the fridge, part of a selection of beers i got as a gift. I look on it as a chore to drink it 😂

Gunner, Town Wall, Forth and Mosaic pre James on Friday, looking forward to it

That's mental mind. I presume you've not been amongst the more recent stuff.

Edit. Decent and Cruz does not compute.

Decent.
Had a yuzu peel infused lambic from oud Beersel in the Town Mouse yesterday. Very pleasant indeed.
Lambics are great it has to be said.

Tried lagers by Vaux, Full Circle and Donzoko, possibly a couple of others. I'd get a dark lager if there weren't other options e.g. pales, IPA's, stouts, but not a normal lager, no matter who made it.

Just not for me.
Thought you might very liked the Helles from Donzoko, but fairy nuff.

Have you tried the smoked German lagers ?

You can get Budvar and Spaten at Home Bargains. £5.99 for fowa cans.

They're both in most big Sainsbury's too. Spaten is the best value 'proper' lager you can buy in the UK, imo.

I've fallen back in love with lager since getting that Fizzics machine. It gives them all a massive creamy foamy head and knocks a lot of the carbonation out. Brings it closer to how lager should be served. Class.
