David Bruce leaving SAFC

His first act at the club was to contact Hummel personally and ask if they’d design a kit for us. Us going to them not the other way around.

The ridiculous commercial success of that partnership for the club only comes about because we had a fan in charge who knew exactly what the fans would want and would buy.

A generic international CEO just puts it out to tender and get Addidas or whoever on a decent deal for a club our size.
You'd hope Hummel sticks around. Great stuff from them.
At least we will get a competitive deal now.

Not being awkward but on what basis are you judging ridiculous commercial success.

Volume or profit … and how profitable is that deal now?

He will be judged on his commercial success you assume. It’s a fickle business sports marketing.
Unexpected growth makes everything in place a barrier to progress.
Marketing deals are not unlike players. You get promoted to the premiership and they are no longer fit for purpose.

Share some vile stuff please. I follow him on linked in, never seen a post that I would describe as vile.
He provides for Food for thought for sure, he is pro Israeli and most of his utterances are related to fighting antisemitism and the media representation of Jews. …but vile ? ….. its nasty to misrepresent what people say and particularly when their main thrust is to counter racism.
It’s also concerning that you would not do your homework before making such claims as the lad is a born and bred Mackem …. More Mackem than 90% on here.

Here's an example - - not sure you could say that smearing a murdered journalist is an example of fighting racism.

I'm sure I'd agree with a lot of what he has to say about anti semitism, but most of the stuff I saw from him on LinkedIn was him criticising those who criticised the genocide. I stopped reading his posts around the time when he was implying that Netanyahu's critics has forced Netanyahu's worst behaviours. Maybe he changed tack since.

I didn't make any reference to where he was born, not sure where you're going with that.

I detest the fact he’s anything to do with SAFC.

There is nothing in that report to suggest he was wrong.
Let’s face it we all the feel media are fronting one interest or another in this country, it’s not hardly inconceivable what he was suggesting.
The reason he removed the view was not because he thought he was wrong, but because journalists were getting killed and hence obviously thought better than pointing fingers are people in war zones.
It was a view shared by others but not verified by the wonderful independent non antisemitic BBC.

I wouldn’t want to be a Jew these days, not even if I came from Sunderland

Just for the record tell everyone why you hate a Sunderland lad who happens to be a Jew so much.

I haven't mentioned his religion at all. I don't really care about anyone's religion, it's none of my business. And I have precisely zero issue with Judaism specifically. Religion has absolutely nothing to do with my criticism of Pearlman.

Back to the actual thing we're talking about - here's a direct quote from Pearlman;

"Ian Williams, president of the Foreign Press Association in New York, argued that even as a Hamas member, Al-Sharif should have been protected because he “also” claimed to be a journalist [...] Terrorists masquerading as journalists disgrace the profession & put real war correspondents in mortal danger."

As someone who works in the industry and writes extensively on the topic, Pearlman presumably knows Israel does not allow war correspondents into Gaza. Therefore the only journalists there are Gazans like Al-Sharif.

There is lots of evidence to suggest that the Netanyahu's government smear Gazan's journalists as terrorists to justify their murder and ensure that they cannot show Israel's genocide to the world. If Pearlman - or literally anyone else of literally any religious persuasion - wishes to run interference for Netanyahu's actions then he should expect criticism. You don't get a pass because you happen to be from where I'm from.

I wasn’t directing that comment at you, please don’t take offence . It was the second post if you reread it

Fair point on the rest of it. He probably applied the same logic in taking it down.

I’m sure Pearlman isn’t a bad bloke, but people in the hardcore Zionist bubble contort themselves into knots to defend the actions of Netanyahu’s government.

But yes, there is at least some self reflection in this instance.

Im not concerned about his religion or where he was born.

I detest the fact that he actively supports a country that has waged a genocide (Source:UN) in the middle-east (Gaza, West Bank, and now Lebanon) for the past 80 years.

Israel, and its supporters, should not be allowed to act with impunity any longer.

He claimed we should all be celebrating the Lebanese pager attacks, which maimed civilians and was an act of state terror by any definition.
