Durham v Kent (h) C.C. ( 3/4/26)

Martin’s just been on the Radio saying that the scaffolding is all but clear. The main issue now is the wet wicket, and the club will release another update soon

Is this going to be a microcosm of the season

It certainly seems like a microcosm of the last decade or so, I’ve lost count of the times we’ve gone into the last day looking to bowl a side out and falling short. Feels like this will be the same again, if they do get on today they need to go hell for leather.

How wet can it be?!!

Pavements are all dry, it’s cracking the flags and there’s a stiff breeze!

Get the leaf blowers on it!!

Unfortunately,we don't play on the flagstones:)
So we go out and bat on a rain affected wicket- get skittled. Wicket has then dried out and Kent chase on a then dried out, flat wicket.
That could well be the scenario.
This current situation is much our own doing. We can't control the elements but we could have done a lot more to secure the covers and scaffolding. They had ample warning of the storm.
Nowt like a sticky wicket.
Canny Scran and drinks there?

Surely they aren’t going to wait until 1 for Lunch. Have it now surely?

You know the answer already 🤪

The pavements around the ground are usually a good judge of the moisture within the field given our international calibre drainage.

It wasn’t as though we had rainfall worthy of building an ark. It must be dry by now 🤷‍♂️

I took this photo on Friday morning, for those wondering where the scaffolding was
I mean it just looks utterly shit and tin pot but I said to our group that won't last long it didn't look solid at all. The ground is a tip to be honest but whoever decided to put this up needs speaking to as quite frankly it's embarrassing. Hopefully they get some play today but again serious questions about the state of the ground yet again.

Completely agree!

Hopefully they look at alternative options for sight screens.

We've been saying this for years now - the dilapidated Trapdoor and NE Blue Seat Stand, the mouldy green seats especially in the Co Durham Stand, the scaffolding, the unemptied litter bins, the flooded bogs etc ...it just looks rundown. Had supporters from Surrey, Notts, Worcs and even Leics and Derbyshire telling me these past few seasons that the ground is in need of some TLC.
