Lamine Yamal

Yamal is absolutely ridiculous. However he’s potentially played upwards of 20% of the top level games he’ll play in his entire career already. That’s a crazy thing to say of a lad of just 18.

If Yamal was to leave Barcelona now, it would be a world record fee. Not comparable to Ronaldo's early days at all like.
£150m, £200m…. He is some player to be fair. Not sure how he gets better. Probably a case of maintain that level and it is some level.

What makes you think that?

He has stated that he will never drink alcohol. Without injuries he could play well into his 30s.

Players don’t tend to play more than 7-800 games at the true top level. It’s like mileage on a car. The odd one can go beyond there but they’re not usually asked to do top level jobs once they get to moon miles.

As above. He doesn't drink alcohol and sports science is advanced these days. If he doesn't get injured he could play into his 30s.

You’d have to go some to be more dedicated to physical conditioning to be ahead of Ronaldo. He’s only just topped 1000 games at the age of 41 with the last 150 or so in semi-retirement. It’s incredibly rare to make it to those sorts of levels - and almost unheard of to do it exclusively at the very top level.

He's absolutely extraordinary.

I do think he'll burn out relatively quickly mind.

No surprise as he'll have racked up a ton more games than players of a similar age, but he seems to enjoy the off the field element of his popularity quite a bit

I agree about the difficulty, but Yamal is way ahead of Ronaldo already in terms of games at the same age.

The biggest factor will be injuries.

Thats just not true.

At his age ronaldo had played 28 games for sporting about 20 for man utd in and out of the team.

Messi had played about 20 games for Barcelona.

Yamal has about 150 games for Barcelona, about 48 goals. Hes already won a major international trophy with Spain. Won numerous trophies at Barcelona as their key player, a domestic treble last season. Finished 2nd in the balon dor.

Hes performing at a ridiculous level for his age. I don't think anybody will ever be as good as Messi but he's performing at a higher level at the same age.
I agree. Only thing I would say is players tend to get chances at a younger age these days and the best talents tend to get snapped up earlier. It’s hard to compare eras like. He’s the next superstar like, no doubt for me.

Oh yeah, but Ronaldo played top level way into his late thirties and didn’t get many bad injuries through his career. With wear and tear (and the demands of playing as a creative wide player) I wouldn’t bet much on him getting past 900 career games at the true top level. I imagine that the physical load that Barca have put on someone who was virtually a child will manifest itself in the later half of his career.
