Mignolet

Its gobsmacked me he was on the Bench for England against Japan... Nee wonder England are dredging the bottom of the barrel.
Jobs for the boys and a remnant of the Southgate era. Not a chance if he hadn’t known Southgate from Boro it would have happened. Got to say far play to the family he made it as a pro and his cousin Wing who I was amazed made it at semi pro somehow had a spell in the championship 😧

Who are we talking about here?

He’s not been brought into the squad to play. He’s going as a non playing goalie to help with training drills and penalty shoo outs. A bit like Tom Heaton in the past

Far better than Gordon who some on here think was great for some reason. Look at the careers one played for us and Liverpool the other had a few seasons with us and then Scotland his entire career
Agree. It’s a classic of this board where something just grows arms and legs but no one stops to think, until you have on this occasion.

In fairness, players are called up in the playing squad. He’s been called up in that.

He’s been called up into that squad as there is no other squad. 36 players, 26 + Steele will go, but as I said, he’ll go in a none-playing capacity. Pretty obvious why he was called up for this camp like

He is called up as a player. That’s it. Doesn’t matter what’s said after it. There isn't any other type of call up.

You mag kernt

Why would Tuchel call up a player just because he played for Southgate at Boro 20 years ago?

I say played - he didn't actually make a single appearance under him.

Tuchel was on about splitting the squad into two and having Trafford and Ramsdale as keepers for the first game and Pickford and Henderson for the second, with Steele as 'training keeper' to train with them both as 3rd choice. Nothing more. It's obvious the 3 on the plane in the summer will be Pickford, Henderson and either Trafford or Ramsdale, depending on how shit Ramsdale is between now and the end of the season.

We got far more value out of Mignolet than we ever did from Gordon
We we were mesmerised by what we paid for him rather than his ability
Gordon was like a rabbit in the headlights when we played teams like Pulis Stoke

Gordon was superb. In the second half of Bruce’s first season he made a one-on-one save nearly every game, getting us plenty of points

You mean one game against Stoke, where he struggled, and will be forever tarred because of it.

Gordon had the potential to be one of the best but didn't quite make it, Mignolet lived out his potential.
