It wasn’t really though was it. It was a low risk gamble.
He was one of Sheff Weds best player in the run in of the previous season, and their form was shit hot to avoid relegation.
He was the most in-form player for the most in-form side, and he cost us nothing.
If he had played for us like he did for them then he would have been a bargain.
Our business model up until this season has been looking for diamonds in the rough, and in doing so we’re going to unearth some shite along the way.

I’m not calling you a liar but I do find it very hard to believe given how sought after Ballard was when we signed him, and given how much better Ballard’s cv was as just one example.
He got himself a fairly jammy long term contract AIUI but clearly there were some factors that stopped him playing at the level his CV implied he could. He’d played in the academies of some top shelf teams
