Defoe appointed Woking manager

Ah, that's the "other side" of the A3. There be dragons there. I was a student at the University in Guildford in the 90s and spent a year in Godalming. It was all very posh considering I had grown up in Bishop.
Not much happened in Godalming from my memory. Used to have a cracking cider house there though (The Ram), that I used to go to in my youth.

But yeah, whole area is very well-off. But while Jermaine might have a gentler landing spot for his first managerial/HC role, he will still cop it if he’s not up to scratch. Especially from the infamous section of Kingfield (I’ll never call it the Laithwaite) known as Moaner’s Corner. Scourge of assistant referees, opposition players and, yes, coaching staff.

There are some absolutely shocking parts of Guildford.
I never knew this until about 15 years back I went to look at a second hand VW Golf Driver in Guildford. I’d always thought it was dead posh but the estate this thing was on and also the pair of fuckwits trying to flog their wreck of a car to me, were honking. Bit of an eye opener, that.

I spent many an evening in the Ram as a student. It put me off cider for life though. Their cider cocktails were lethal.

Godalming was OK but a bit of a sleepy commuter town. Remember a Chinese restaurant called the Golden Ming.

I know! The famous ‘Hand Grenade’ was what did me. It was half some special bottle of Bulmers and then half of a scrumpy.

I remember having a few of them, we went to a wine bar in ‘Goddamning’ and I had some Löwenbraus there and went back to a (female) pals’ parents. I thought I was ok but I remember sitting on an armchair and then… 🤮. Completely unannounced. Brutal.
