This is me, my wife seems to think that my retirement and her retirement are the same thing.Well that went down like a lead balloon when I told her that I’m retiring at 56 and living on £17k tax free for 3 or 4 years
I asked what she’s doing re: pensions as they’ve consciously moved to 0.7 FTE - it seems like she’s going to be working forever while I post shite on here and pay for exotic massages etc.
This is me, my wife seems to think that my retirement and her retirement are the same thing.
I've paid a decent amount each month into my pension since my early 20s and she jumped around various things without pensions for a few years and has only really been part of a decent scheme for 10 years.
So my retirement looks good, hers won't be enough to cover her income, so it looks like I'll have to work longer to cover her lower pension.
I’m in the dog house now. I’ve been planning and investing, she’s due a decent inheritance but I don’t know how she intends to invest what’s been gifted to her already. I suggested that she drip feeds into a SIPP but getting her hair done is more important. This is me, my wife seems to think that my retirement and her retirement are the same thing.

Handed in my notice today.
7 weeks to go.
Hopefully I’ll get a large proportion of my 3 months notice tax free with leaving in new 2026/27 tax year lus haven’t took any holiday yetI’m handing mine in tomorrow
Being pissed about re pay rise
I’m not putting up with that at my age from a mag too
Its not good esp the winter monthsThe missus retires this week - 58.5. Gonna kill me still goin into work every morn….
At the moment (over 9 years away), my wife thinks she will keep working if I retire. She is a couple of years younger than me.This is me, my wife seems to think that my retirement and her retirement are the same thing.

I do tooThis is me, my wife seems to think that my retirement and her retirement are the same thing.
I think if it's dropped 50 that's a very good sized potWhat's that as a %? I don't dare look at mine.
Trump took about £30k out of mine this time last year with his tarriffs, but it recovered. I'm not sure it will recover as quick this time.
£500k plus if my wife’s is anything to go byI do too
we always had separate accounts but adjusted the money to be equal .£100 bill was spilt by means to pay
I find it weird hearing my mate moan because his older wife has asked for more of " his " money

For someone who says he's just retired and uses a FA I'd be worried if it was less than £800k£500k plus if my wife’s is anything to go by
That is a real bummer not to get it. A large redundancy payment when you are going anyway is living the dream. My employer put out a Voluntary Severance scheme at the beginning of Feb to 'close' end of March. All depts/staff considered, but none guaranteed.
I applied, just found out yesterday that mine is rejected. I was going to leave this summer anyway and retire (I'm 59 in Autumn).
My current job pension provider wants 4 months notice to pay out pension on time for leaving date. My employer only needs 1 month's notice to terminate contract. I'm conjuring all sorts of petulant evil plots in my head.
What would you do?

After being assured there would not be another round of redundancy at my last place, I resigned. A week or two later another was announced and people working their notice were excluded. With 15 years of service, I would have had over a year of wages. It would have cleared my mortgage.
