Chris Rigg

Riggs finding his feet at the top level. No matter what anyone says he was cracking last season (42 appearances 36 starts 4 goals 1 assist at 17, in the toughest league outside of top flight football in the world.) Taking a look at the full spectrum of stats that season back it up too.

This season he would admit himself he’d have wanted to play more I’m sure, but he’s trained with a much higher calibre of player all season and the last few weeks we’ve seen his progress clear as day.

If he has a strong end to the season sets him up perfectly for next year when I think we’ll start to see the player he looked like he could become in the 21s and 18s.

Watched a lot of him in those age groups and I see him going to the very very top, hopefully with us.
Rigg was poor for the majority of last season. And for the majority of his games this season.

There is a reason that Xhaka has said he has started trusting him more now...because he was off the pace required AT THIS LEVEL ..

Club gambled a bit on him last season but it's telling that until recently he's been out the picture this season till we are pretty much safe..

Hopefully all this nurturing pays off

I think he's good but slightly over hyped problem is we will be upgrading the right side and cm so will be get minutes he needs
Nobody knows what we will do in the summer. I don't think we will bring in many in CM.

Xhaka, le fee, diarra, sadiki, Rigg is 5 for 3 positions. Maybe a DM but can't see much more.

Absolute rubbish and the stats agree.

You could see what it meant to Chris Rigg after the mags game . Him and 09 making the special moment together after the match as they let the result sink in .

Real turning point in the lads career and no doubt he will make the most of the experience and go on from here . Big step up and big confidence booster as he looked very comfortable in the derby and put in a great performance imo.

My own eyes disagree

I'm definitely not in the minority on here either.

Form dropped off a cliff well before Xmas .

Till last few weeks I barely seen him pass to a Sunderland player. He's been poor for a year.

BUT . . It will all be worthwhile if he kicks on as expected

He was poor a few times, excellent a few times and mostly decent which is very impressive for a 17 year old. The idea he’s been rubbish in most of his performances is plain wrong.

Poor is not rubbish. IMHO he was not at the level required for a lot / majority of his games last season..
And definitely this season
..

However if it benefits everyone long term all is good .

So, a young lad who is improving, and been one of our best performers in high pressure games very recently.

Not all young players progress at a regular pace.

The lad is playing mid table premiership football against, and with, some top quality players.

Very promising from what i see.
Some fans can't see beyond the immediate here and now, the club used to be just as dumb but not anymore thankfully.

They are giving him some plenty of time to develop but what age do you think he should be judged 21/22?
At some point after being in and around the first team for years and deemed good enough too start then it’ll come down too what his output is, I’d say that might be in 18 months time , he will have had 5 years around first team

I am less bothered by what he’s worth and more interested in what he will save us.
The step up by that lad in last 3 games has been incredible
