World Cup

For the Qatar one I was gonna “bouycott” it other than the England games but I ended up having loads of spare time that month due to work being quiet so I ended up watching quite a bit

For this one I’m planning on only watching the England games but then after seeing the “highlights” of the Uruguay friendly I might not even bother

Shame like, I remember as a youngin I’d be all over the world cups - wall charts and all that stuff. But I’m getting less and less bothered these days

Same here, 1998 and 2002 I was absolutely all over it. Couldn't be less interested if I tried now

Least excited I've ever been about a World Cup.
The only answer I have too.

There is no doubt that I will watch it if I am able to.

However, it is the least interested I have been about any tournament.

Normally I would have the matches in my diary, hoping nothing clashes.

Its taken this thread to make me look at when they take place.

Going to Miami for Scotland v Brazil, we have family in Atlanta so it’s something we’ve done already, and I've enjoy it.

If you’d told me at the last World Cup that we would have several players playing for Sunderland that will give me more of an interest in this tournament, I would've thought it sounded far fetched.

Might take in a neutral game in Atlanta or Scotland if we make any sort of progress beyond the group as I’ll still be there.

As with any world cup when since I've been about 10 year old. I'll look forward to it over the summer I'm sure. Same as I enjoyed the winter olympics or something, but I'm hardly buzzing months before. Get this season done first.

The time difference will be a bit of a nightmare for this one. The last one was mint for skipping off work to watch random games etc.

Not really bothered about it. On holiday for most of it. Deliberately booked them as not to miss any Sunderland games.

International football is struggling. Club football has taken over as the many interest for fans, TV companies and sponsors. But the World Cup is still the pinnacle of the sport.

FIFA are doing their very best to ruin it. Having 48 nations is way to much. It's great for the smaller nations but the gap between the best teams and weaker ones is massive. No disrespect but Curacao v Ivory Coast isn't going to the excitement levels going!

Add in this being the Trump World Cup and South America, Europe and Africa forced to co-host the 2030 World Cup just so Saudi Arabia can host the 2034 one.

they could make it massively exciting by doing two things:

have the next available one in the UK, using all of our current class proper football grounds in proper football towns, where all of the infrastructure already exists.

and cut it back down to 32 teams.

it would be absolutely class, football fans all over the world would love to come to the UK, and see their countries playing big matches at Anfield, Old Trafford etc..
