Wheatley in at Aston Martin...

I'm sure I said at the time it was an awful idea to give Newey the TP job - it just takes him away from what he's best at - designing stuff.

But an odd appointment, Wheatlie is only just starting out as TP of Audi. Horny to Audi then?

Got his faults, but he doesn’t wait to swing the axe regardless of egos.
Newey was always a caretaker and he's probably relieved it's over sooner than expected. He certainly won't miss having to manage people and partners, and it doesn't seem like they'll miss having to deal with him either.

He was in Aston Martin by mid year last year yet never visited Honda until November, and claims he didn't know they'd lost all their people (which I find a flimsy excuse, since he was at Red Bull while Red Bull Powertrains were poaching/inheriting/migrating all the Honda staff, and someone (Cowell?) must have been in Sakura long before). He has to take a lot more blame for the shambles than either he takes or people give him.

He was in role as technical director and by all accounts locked himself in a drawing cupboard all year instead of managing their technical partnerships, and changing requirements late last year. The engine may well be crap, but they're a works team of which he was the team principal and is the managing technical partner (director), and collective responsibility clearly means nothing to Newey.

Think he wants to be part owner, that weird love/hate thing hes got going on with Toto. Plus he'd be reporting to binotto ala helmut. Stranger things have happened though!

To be fair to the cheating bastid, that sauber really turned itself around last year and as a new engine package its not doing too bad in the opening two races either.
.

BBC reckon that Stroll approached Horner this week to join them, but Newey black balled him. Wheatley is Plan B apparently.

They must want rid of him if they're letting him go directly to Aston?
Binotto taking over the Team Principle Role... be interesting to see how that turns out, can't figure out if he was hard done to by Ferrari or not.

Ironically, wasn't he a technical guy who did quite well, so got pushed into a TP role that didn't suit him too?

Aye which was a shame really as he was properly clowned on when Ferrari TP but he’s apparently one of the best around.

Love how Max has gone to the Nurburgring qualifyed over a second clear won the race, twisted about F1 by saying he’s loved it cause he can just race, he gets loads of praise ….

And then gets disqualified and loses the win 🤣🤣🤣
I honestly don't think he'll care! He just had a nice afternoon!

Using an extra set of tyres is truly Ferraresco strategy... F1 Ferrari that is, as the WEC Ferrari are actually quite well oiled!
