When you think back to the height of covid, and many thought the world wouldn't ever go back to normal, then it did & markets recovered. Of course the big question is how long will this drag on for, but it will end & things will recover

I'd be looking at a global fund for a bit more diversification. It will be around 80% US stocks anyway.

I'd be looking at an equal weighted fund for the S&P 500. The biggest 7 companies are such a big part of that index. And while I can see Amazon and Google being well protected and capable of future growth, some of the other big 7 look like losers to me.

As a UK investor, its probably not prudent to throw all your eggs into the US & also be a full mercy of the value of USD

I have zero knowledge or experience of investing, but I thought tangible commodities like these would be safe bets right now given the things happening elsewhere?
They aren't tangible anymore. Most commodities traded on the markets are financial instruments. Many of the instruments are not based on underlying ownership of any commodity. Even for the ones that are based on ownership of the underlying asset, it is the issuer who owns the asset, not the investor. The system has not yet been tested by a major global catastrophe. It may be that people who think they own gold actually own paper.
