They weren't. They were the best team for 90 minutes at home. First half away Barcelona probably shaded it, mags certainly weren't the best team. Barcelona scored 3 and missed an absolute sitter too but the mags were well in it. Obviously second half...

All about opinions . In the away game , every time the Mags went forward in the first half they looked like scoring . Barcelona were allover the place defensively. . The Mag’s defence were no better mind .

Barcelona had most of the game and the mags hit them on the break. They basically didn't bother marking up at all in the middle of their defence, absolutely ridiculous defending 😂

Trippier isn't the player he was, he's only little and doesn't look physically up to it any more. Hall is a typical converted winger, he's excellent going forward, involved in both of their goals but he's not a good defender. He hasn't got a defenders instinct the way say Reinaldo has. All 4 of their back line were caught with their pants down. It was a shambles.

Barcelona just seem to think, you can score a couple but we will score more. They are totally asleep at the back. The first goal, nobody closing Hall and 2 players completely unmarked in the centre of the goal 😂 The kid was 2 yards ahead of Elanga for the second goal and basically stood still while he ran 3 yards past him to tap it in to an empty net. I've never seen a top team so poor at the back.

Would you rather go toe to toe with big teams and get humped or play compact, be hard to beat and nick points.

It's a good one to think about regarding our own manager and the brand of football he plays.

They still didn’t win the first leg no matter how well they played, facts are that the mags had to play out of their skins to even match Barca whilst Barca played for a draw as they knew they didn’t have to go all out for a win.

I understand that, but I can still watch the game and state objectively that they played well and should have won.

Ultimately as you say the CL is about winning over 2 legs and Barcelona did that comfortably because Howe tried to outscore them and disregard defending - stupid imo.

Fair enough, I agree with you fwiw they played well, but I suppose they had to to stand any chance in the tie.

Just before half time i genuinely thought they would progress, thankfully Barca scored 5 goals in about 20 minutes.

I never thought they would go through if I'm honest. 9 times out of 10 , in an open game like that quality will shine through. Great players end up in 1 v 1 situations against average players.

I still think they gave a good account of themselves over the two legs in terms of making it good games to watch. After 3 halves of football, they were still in the tie. But they aren't going to beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp in an open, expansive game imo.

They were 2-2 40 mins in so yeah they did, especially after going 1-0 down after what 5 mins I thought it would’ve been done by half time

I thought the Saudis would do them on the counter as they did first half, thankfully the penalty on stroke of half time changed it all.
