SAFC - Fan Ban & Ticket Cancellations

Absolutely bang-on mate. Without wanting to be too trite,we used to be like one big community where we looked after our own. Of course it used to kick-off amongst some when we were really shit occasionally but generally we looked out for each other.
No-one ever questioned another’s legitimacy of being at an away game, we were all just SAFC. Now you have snidey individuals snooping on each other. What a shame.

Not even kidding when I say this, it's part of the legacy of Thatcherism.

Created a culture of grassing.

I guess we'll never know the full real story like but that seems ridiculously harsh.
That is tue story mate. One lad has been to every home and away game for years and his ticket was bought within this group, club have cancelled his mags ticket....even though he showed them proof he has been to all thebaway games....what a ***** trick aswel to pull it for the mags game awqy man.....some on here should be ashamed of themselves for the witch hunt to stop fellow Sunderland fans enjoying an away day with their families/friends.....

no . because if any fan who does every single away game for years got a warning off the club for doing something out of line, they would 100% not carry on doing it
Begs the question was this bloke approached and warned that re selling tickets can't continue? I would have thought they would have .

By the sounds of it, the lad has been caught passing tickets on and the club will see this as abusing the system. Pretty much everyone will have got a ticket this way at some point (or given their ticket to someone else) but not allowed in the "modern world". Everything is tracked and controlled these days, the police will want to know exactly who is in each seat in the away end so it becomes a potential security issue too.

Cancelling all 65 tickets is extremely harsh, unless there's more going on in the background that we're not privy to - should have been given a warning. Seems targetted and spiteful.

Can only think they've made an example of them. Shite on the genuine ones that are missing out.

its not though is it.

the club could have spoken to him, explained the crack and allowed the real fans (like him and most of the 65 ) to be separated from any tickets that actaully needed cancelling.

they could have treated the fans with respect. given them a warning
Winds me up stuff like this because what you outline is just the basic process you’d expect any competent organisation to undertake, not the lazy thoughtless one they’ve taken. Honestly man, who makes decisions like this. Total inability to think of the bigger picture.

They’ll use this security issue as an excuse but plenty will be passed down from corporate etc who won’t be party to such ID checks

the amount of pull he has/had with the train companies alone, the club should have been employing him not banning him

the amount of money he's saved sunderland fans over the years will be in £10,000s. regularly doing block bookings of 200+ on trains to london, getting bus replacements put on especially for us, getting trains delayed especially for us, whole carriages booked out most of the time... and none of us had any dealings with the train companies, barely even saw a train ticket. just sent him the money and turned up and everything was laid on. the blokes a legend to those 1000s of fans who he's personally helped over the years
Unfortunately that was being abused by some as well. Lads jumping on the trains having paid nothing and just using the phrase "X has my ticket" when asked by train staff.
