Big trouble next season

Unless RLB changes his ways and stops being so negative with his tactics or he is replaced with a more balanced coach I can see us being in both next season.

Fingers crossed Ghisolfi has some good players up his sleeve which I think he will. It is no coincidence this has happened in all of RLBs Jobs.

Why did we stop playing the way we did at the start of the championship season? The high pressing exciting football? Turned into turgid defensive minded football. He would much rather draw 0-0 then go for a game.

I think we have some good attacking options Talbi etc but I really do think they are being held back. Surely the players can not enjoy that style of play? Whatever happens hope we find a solution because at the moment it is not only horrendous to watch but it will only lead to one eventuality in the coming season
Let’s sack everyone and employ Beale again and enjoy those memorable nights under the lights when we beat Real Madrid 8-1.

For gods sake are you lot that stupid that you don’t get that we have to give the manager time to build a squad.

I despair at the stupidity displayed on this board at times. I’m not targeting this poster by the way

I’m sure some of the posters are mags on a wind up.

I can’t believe a proper Sunderland fans would think this way

Its not RLB its the playing staff, we've got 3 strikers that would struggle in the Championship never mind the Premiership, And unless we address the wide areas and striker position we are going to struggle to stay up next season, to be honest Isadore, Mundle, Mayenda, Talbi, and even Brobbey all need replacing with better quality, for me we need to spend some serious money on two proven strikers and both wings.

Stop being so bloody miserable. So when Ghisolfi says we aim higher you think he's just lying? You must be great company in the pub.

I doubt he’s lying, but saying it and doing it are 2 completely different things. The owner said we’d have a window to get a top 10 finish, then failed to make the team better.

I’m sure Ghisolfi is aiming higher, but so is every other team in the league. Unless he gives the manager some players that can create and score goals, what he wants matters not.

A question for the doomies...

Which of the following is your preferred scenario?

1. Losing next week to the mags

Or

2. West ham catching us on the final day of the season

We haven’t got the players to play any other way.

I’m sure everyone would be delighted at the start of the season if you said you would have 40 points in March.

Expectancy levels have increased, want expansive football, loads of goals and wins every week. We all do but unfortunately it doesn’t work like that.

We have loads of injuries, it’s proved that the lads coming in are not up to it. I think we could cope with a couple, but 5 or 6 has caused us problems.

The board have proved this season they will be ruthless and improve the squad.

Lot of work to do but we have plenty to build on now.

Plenty shithousery next week please Reggie!!

We will go down this season

Both happen.

I think there’s a middle ground tbh. I’ve not seen anyone say they expect us to score loads and win every week.

Scoring a few more would be very welcome though. 1 goal from open play is really, really poor.

We will go down this season

We won’t. Forest, West Ham, Leeds & Spurs would have to get 11 or 12 points and that’s assuming we lose every remaining game. If we lost every game between now and the end of the season he’d be gone anyway.

One of them doing it is possible, but certainly not all of them.

Agree, but we have been set up like this most the season, solid and pinch a goal.

Biggest problem we have is conceding first, having to break down teams and score twice looks impossible at the minute.

As with any style of play, if you’re winning or getting results it’s fine. But when you’re setting up not to concede and not do much in the way of attacking, it looks really bad when it fails.

Le Bris summarised it well. Flying at the start. Then survived through Afcon but the extra workload took its toll on players. Now we are at the bare bones with injury and limping to the finish.

Still, job done, need to build the squad further to step up to the top half next season.
