Diarra lately

Just walking out, whether the ability is there or not I dunno but what I do know is he doesn’t have the heart the rest of the squad have

I fear you are right. Iam not sure he gets it, in terms of this club, this community, this town.
He strikes me as having a high opinion of himself with not a lot of humility. When you compare him to LeFee and Sadiki they are miles apart in attitude…. Or so it appears.

Clearly talented but how much does he want it?

The whole midfield was poor and devoid of any creativity, other than the going down in the box when they scored I dont think he was any worse than the others. Least Diarra carries something of a slight goal threat. 1 goal all season between the other 2 - its not good enough. This singling out of a player who has missed half the season through injury is unfair imo.
Disagree with that like. He got put in near the line three times in the first half & wasted every ball.

I’ll go as far to say he did absolutely nothing that gave him any credit. After the goal he gave away the ball via a foul throw then stopped to argue with the linesman rather than win it back when he was dispossessed.

He appears to be extremely niave about how to play a professional football match which is strange given he’s an international who I think captained his previous side? He looks like he’s playing for him & not SAFC.

I’m clinging onto the hope there’s a player in there & he comes good. All the reasons/excuses are there for this season. Didn’t speak the language, young lad, new league, bad injury, pulled away to international duty for an extended period. However at the minute he looks like a lost child who probably doesn’t want to be on the pitch. Given the league position we’re in, little to play for, current form & the team down to the bare bones, I’d be majorly surprised if we saw anything from him this season.

Hopefully he can get this year gone & start again next season with a fresh slate.

Let’s make no bones about it though, as it stands he’s a detriment rather than an asset to the side.

Skip to 15 minutes for a perfect view of the goal.
My god it looks awful for Ellborg. I defended Diarra but he really needs the gaffer to have words. He clearly grabs his head to fake the injury and the ref ignores it. No offside coz Xhaka playing them on.

As I said above

Those things I’ve mentioned in isolation are poor. Three in one match is unacceptable. These are all things school children are taught. If were his teammate I’d be fuming with the goal. Even worse after watching it back to see he was just f***ing about rather than getting involved. You’d like to think staff & senior players are having a word.

But the basics of it are… pretended in front 48,000 people he was hurt, got told he was faking, so got up & ran away. He should be embarrassed.

& aye, Ellborg shouldn’t be best from there. Other than that, some good saves.

Top save first half....he seems decent to me but God really miss Roefs.

Dont get me wrong mate I'm not saying the lad doesn't need to improve. But he's one of several playing poorly at the moment, some of the posts in this thread go beyond criticism and more towards what I would actually classify as abuse which is uncalled for and doesnt portray the fanbase in a good light.

Agree that the nonsense like arguing with refs and faking injury doesn't help his cause, needs to cut that bollocks out sharpish and concentrate on playing football. I'll stick my neck out and say he comes good for us next season, there's definitely a quality player in there, we saw it opening day v West Ham.

He’s a legend…………….

…….in his own head.

I hope you’re right about him coming good, because at the minute I’m struggling how he can get worse. As the line goes, there’s obviously a footballer there, but it’s like he needs to be taught all over again.

I also agree a few others haven’t been up to standard. Xhaka, by his own high standards looked rusty yesterday. But Diarra’s getting stick cos he was easily the worst.

Not trying to make any excuses for Diarra here given the faking injuries and all round terrible play, but could the Muslim fasting regime he’s currently on be a factor?

We know that Diarra and Talbi are fasting from the club’s social media, and assuming that Xhaka is too as a Muslim, it’s asking a lot of your body to play an elite level football match without having any food or hydration all day. Might not be a coincidence that all three weren’t at their best yesterday, or at Port Vale.

That foul throw as well. Nearly kicked himself in the head his foot came up that much. Poor performance all round, but he put himself above the parapet with a few really amateurish and unprofessional moments.
