Thanks mate. Although I spent the off-season telling everyone that Aston Martin were going to win and there'd be a total shake up of the order. @Big Jeff said it'd still be Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes at the front of the field and he was spot on!

Probably true of all sports, but biographies of old racing drivers are normally class. Pro cyclists biographies too. Nowadays, elite sportsmen can be a bit dull due to the requirement for ultra fitness and media training etc.

The more that things change the more they stay the same. (Loose translation not literal)

Although I thought today’s race was better. Great performances from George, Kimi, Bortelloto, and Max to come right through the field.

Ferrari did a Ferrari strategy call and as usual made a mess of it.

Lewis even told them that at least one driver should have pitted to split the strategy.

But we move onto China with hope in our hearts.
 
My feelings are that the new regs are not pushing the drivers. It's now who's the best at adopting to the technology. Even last year with high tyre deg and "dirty air" the drivers were still driving to the limit of the car. i.e. understanding they had to do x laps on a certain tyre but still getting the most out of braking points/ corner speed etc. each lap.
Now, it's just energy harvesting and deploment at the most strategic point.

This moves away from wheel to wheel racing and excludes those who had the balls to brake late and push for the advantage.
The move for electrification has come too soon to sustained entertaining racing and should be abandoned.
 
Get rid of the electric motors. Bring back V10’s.

Less regulation and let’s go racing.
I’m no fan of Max but I respect his views on the current state of racing probably because it reflects my own views

I don’t like the electric stuff. The management of electrical power does not sit well with me.

I want to see a purer, less regulated F1.

Big V10 petrol engines that scream at 17,000 revs.

Cap them at three litres and let the designers go wild.

Stipulate a max length/width/weight.

But let’s be free with the aero and fuel tanks.

What do I know? Let’s see what China throws up.

First James Vowles and now Andrea Stella pretty much saying Mercedes are witholding information from customer teams when it comes to the PU and it will take time to work eveything out. Need Toto Wolff's smug grin wiped off his face asap.

There's a date this month that they have to hand over all the info, but until then I think they are allowed to keep back some of the "sweeties". Fucks sake.

Me and a few other lads I work with are going to that race.

I’d love to see other drivers on the grid compete round the Nordschleife, imagine Russell round there in a GT3 race man it’d get postponed due to floods off his tears 🤣

It was a fun race to watch, at least for the first 15 laps, but at the same time it's not really racing.

The driver behind uses their overtake button, burns through a bunch of their battery charge which then leaves them without enough charge to defend, so the driver they've overtaken passes them back almost straight away.

Yes it means you get more overtakes, but at the same time it all felt artificial.
