F1 2026

To be fair to ferrari, at the time of the safety car everyone thought that was a forced two stop. And looking at Mclaren and Redbull that two stop was woefully slower

Get in Lewis lad! Not bad for a washed up has been!

Not a bad race tbf. Mercs are on rails. Russell may as well have smoked a cigar he was that comfortable. Very impressive.

Him and Kimi will be hard to beat until their cheat code wears off race 10.

Good battle at the start with Leclerc and Russell, bodes well for the new regs.

Ferrari's like a rocket off the start. Could have been better for LH if he hadn't have gone wide turn 1.

Notable mention for square head. Canny drive from the back to finish 6.

Not sure what to think there. A lot happened, lots of swapping positions without it feeling quite like racing. Very few investigations and no penalties given out maybe shows how it wasn't really much of a battle.

They seem to be able to follow each other closely and cleanly but the battery differentials really mask any kind of true pace and skill when drivers are overtaking each other, so half the time it doesn't stick more than a corner or two anyway. A bit like the flatness of a goal checked by VAR. You're not sure if it'll stick, and if it sticks, the moment has gone somewhat!

Appears that one constructor in a dubious car is going to run away with it which is never good for the sport.

Don't want to be overly negative. It was busy, plenty of interest, good start, Ferrari strong and reliable, Verstappen made a load of places but finishes nowhere. On screen battery status was a big improvement even over yesterday. Just not convinced by the "racing".

Max and Arvid went in a fair amount of seconds after the VSC happened it seemed, maybe it was too close?

Aye I think the Ferraris were pretty much going by the pit lane entry when the VSC was called, played nicely into the hands of those just behind timing wise.

7am start next Sunday?

Felt like I was watching scalextric to be honest. Was better than I thought, but I know exactly what you mean.

Bernie said on sky they were too far round to pit and when they came back round the entry was closed
She just said now that he had 19 seconds to pit, which was my feeling. But the damage was done by then with the first VSC, I dont think it made much difference by the second, as Russell was too far forward already.
Don't think it was a bad idea by Ferrari. They gambled on another VSC and it nearly worked for them with Bottas.

Canny race. I'd have a close eye on that Antonelli stint if I was George though.
Yeah the first VSC was too early and by the time of the second VSC there was little to gain; they needed a full SC and it was a reasonable gamble on getting one. Not much happened in the last 25 laps though.

To me it felt like we got all the overtaking done in first stint because the drivers hadn’t figured out battery usage. George seemed to dump his battery to get past Charles leaving him a sitting duck.

Once they worked out how to manage the battery it all seemed to calm down as shown by Max being unable to pass Lando.

Good for Ferrari though on what should have been one of their weakest tracks.

They would have been behind, but a lot closer. Not sure they had the pace with Mercedes away in clear air though.

I thought the first 10 laps were wacky, however it was at least good to see drivers being able to be strategic and creative with battery deployment. Leclerc stayed ahead in the first stint by outsmarting Russell, more than anything else.

And while I get the comparison to VAR, I'm not sure the previous system of overtaking - which depended almost entirely on having good drive out of 1 corner of the track - felt any better.

I don't know - things happened, and after a season where literally nothing happened, it's a step forward.
