Should we target a trophy next season?

To reach the final would now only be 4 more games. It's hardly a fixture pile up like maybe xmas/New year time. We should be going into every game left as strong as we possibly can. For years we've been dire in cup competitions, getting knocked out by some pretty awful sides, in front of 10k at home. Grasp this opportunity with both hands and what a chance we've got of a Quarter final. Then if we get a home draw, a huge chance of another Wembley trip.

Also add in the quarter final is Easter weekend when no other games are on anyway. What an opportunity.

You make a compelling case but there are more important things to fry than cups. We have not been able to cement a long term position in the Premier League. Ever. Every single time it’s been a year of struggle. The few moments where we have seen the top 10. I have envied for years the likes of Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest for being able to do that. That to me is real success. Because it last longer. And it benefits us as a growing club more than a cup win does. Constant survival well away from the relegation zone means we can stay afloat making profits season on season. Till one day we can be spoken about in the same breath as Fulham or Everton.
We are safe man , Job done, let’s gan all out for the cup , moments are what we are fans for and if we did get to Wembley with this team it would be special

I know we are safe but as I have clearly stated in that comment throughout from start to finish, in fact it is pretty much the only thing that was mentioned (maybe you missed that bit or read it differently to what it was), we may not be safe after next season. When I say long term survival it means past the current season. It means looking to to the future. I could not do more to make it more abundantly clear that cementing a long term place in the PL is way more important - yet I seem to have failed in this regard. May bad. You should have had it made easier for you to understand what I was saying than what was put.

Take your chances when they come along in football it’s as simple as that, you probably said it was too early for us to go up last season

Who the fuck fries cups?!

The mags have won the FAC six times, we’ve won it twice.
The mags have won the FLC once and we’ve won it no times.
The mags aren’t winning the league any time soon so we are safe there even though we aren’t either.

The stadium and academy are adequate which means the owners of SAFC have three jobs:
1/ Keep SAFC in the PL.
2/ Start winning FACs.
3/ Start winning FLCs.

We’re obviously the top club in the NE trophy wise through our title collection but for maximum lording it over the mags we need to be at least in the lesser trophy stakes. A cup a year for the next five years will allow us older mackems to catch our last taxi with a smile on our faces.

I’m at a loss as to why we shouldn’t be playing anything other than our strongest possible team on Sunday.
Out first and main target has been achieved, we’re playing a team bottom of the 3rd tier win as we should then we’re just 2 games from the FA Final.
Why would we not go for this full on?
