Retirement

Aye, me and the wife both have final salary pensions so didn't think an IFA was needed but looking back it may have been useful for our investments.
Think of you have final salary there’s no need , im
More on about those who don’t have final salary

Subtle brag enall 😆

Missus going to retire next month and don’t think we be using an IFA , was just unsure if others did

Its probably only worth it if youre either rubbish with the numbers or worth a fair bit that youll be a higher rate tax payer, that the IFA can do some jiggerypokery to reduce you tax.

On retirement I left most of our savings in cash ISAs as I thought we might need it but it turns out our pensions are enough. An IFA might have advised me to put it into longer term investments.

This for me.

We did and best thing we have done
We just went with Lloyd’s wealth management (Shroder) first appointment is free and in that time they basically look at how your are financially set up then tell you if they can do anything for you or not, it’s not in there interest too piss u about, so you have nothing to lose really.
The advice was great ended up with us clawing back a load of tax 2 years running by juggling my redundancy payment, advising best option for my tax free pension lump sum and a couple of other things.
We would never of known without there advice, plus set up a lot of our current investment pots which were just sitting in cash isa’s doing the basic 4 1/2 % .
3 years retired now and most my investments now do over 12%
Ongoing advice is 0.65% but now I am set up will probably drop them next year.
What have you got too lose 👍

DB so no need. I know how much I'm getting, and if im depleting my cash buffer too much in a few tears time we'll cut back a bit if we have to. Don't expect to though.
Why need a cash buffer if a final salary pension mate ?
