Team v Port Vale?

Strongest team possible with GX on the bench.Even at full strength I cannot see us scoring more than 1 goal from open play.

Insane that people want to play a weakened team like, especially when they is no chance we'll go down.

Play our best team, and if players *really* need a rest then give them a week off against Brighton. Because beating Port Vale is more important than beating Brighton 🤷‍♂️
I don't think it's giving players a rest or not that's the concern - at least for me anyway - it's the potential for more injuries that's worrying. The pitch looks horrific and I wouldn't be surprised if they use some, let's call them "league one tactics".

Also, maybe we have a better chance of making the semis/final if, for example, Xhaka misses this game and stays fit for the rest of the FA cup campaign?

With Sadiki and Hume suspended, and the number of injuries, I don't think we have a choice of who plays. It's whoever's fit and a bunch of kids on the bench to make up the numbers.

If we get more injuries we get more injuries. It'll be frustrating but it's one of them things. It's a shame but it's surely a risk worth taking. Doubt anyone will be saying we should be not playing certain players for league matches, just incase they get injured.

Obviously he may play a weakened side and we may go through regardless. I just don't think it's worth the gamble.

I think we should rest players against Newcastle because it will be a physical game & we don’t want anyone getting injured. Look at poor Dan Burn against us.

Keep everybody fresh for the US trip
Moore
J Jones o9 Ballard Cirkin
Gerty Rigg H Jones
Angulo Mayenda Talbi

No 1 priority is Mags game
That team should more than hold its own against div 1 relegation candidates
I’ll jump on this too. We cannot be small minded enough to let this engulf us. It’s extremely important (like a cup final if it makes them twats happy) once the Brighton game is done. But before that we need to concentrate on getting to the next round of the cup & into the top half of the league.

If we get the result we want against them, we’ll enjoy it massively, but come the next game it should be business as usual. The Mags matches should be looked at as (hopefully) one of the highlights of the season, but the a defining point of the season.

At least Hume and Sadiki will get a rest/protection from an injury.

Got to try and go as strong as possible to win this imo.

Fair enough - we have different opinions. But no one talks about not playing certain players for league games in case they get injured because every league game is really tough. On Sunday we're playing a team who are 10 points adrift at the bottom of league one and have won 2 games at home all season. I would say that it's not a risk we need to take with someone as important as Xhaka because we have good enough players in reserve to beat Port Vale.

Dan Neil should have been recalled imo

Gertruida i’m not convinced of in Xhakas role he was absolutely anonymous on Tuesday night

Stop being silly.

Unless you’re a mag and you’re posing as a Sunderland fan. In which case, grow up you sackless bellend.

This is the FA Cup and we aren't going down.
Let's f***ing go for it!

Ellborg

O'Nien - Ballard - Alderate - Geertruida

Diarra - Xhaka - Le Fee

Talbi - Mayenda - Angulo

SUBS
Moore, Je.Jones, Hester/Lightfoot, Rigg, H.Jones, Aleksic, Whittaker, Geragusian, Isidor
Will be this team in my opinion

The only 2 I'd rest are Xhaka & Ballard

Ellborg
O Nien, Gerty, Omar, Jones
Angulo, Diarra, Le Fee, Rigg Talbi
Mayenda or Isador

If Ellberg is going to be first choice for a while, game time will be useful

Think this will be close to the team. Not sure Xhaka will start so think Rigg will come in. Think Isidor might get the nod up front.

How many times!
Neither Sadiki nor Hume available due to suspension 🙄
Didn't know when I posted, the 1st to point it out was less of a bellend about it.

Like someone being wrong is such an inconvenience to your life.

Cheers.
