Pre season announced

I found a return from New York back to London for 134 (indirect) on the 3rd iirc, just trying to find a flight out there for cheap. Be a last minute booking for me I think.
There were returns to Newcastle via Dublin from New York for about £200 IIRC

Think I’ll try and go to New York.

This tour worth it purely for @Hongkongphooey hammered commentary.

We found the internal flights expensive and the service abysmal, last time we holidayed in the states.
Can't blame Trump though as it was 20 years ago 😀😀

so cool cause I might be moving to outside of Nashville next year and am planning on visiting in April...might have to go back out there when Sunderland is there too :)

Just my two cents as an American. This is a much, much better trip with better locations than last time. Good opposition too, all at stadiums purpose built for soccer. Nashville is excellent, as is Philly I hear. It will be hot as hell, even in NJ and Philadelphia. Also, our government sucks and is going to destroy the world. Sorry.

I'm not far from Nashville (by American standards - 5 hours drive) and will probably drag my family out for the game and visit some family friends.
Presumably our players won’t be taking their families with them in case ICE kidnaps them walking down the street?
A valid concern.

It's worse
We done Philadelphia - Washington DC - Williamsburg - Smokey Mountains - Nashville a couple of years ago.
It was marvellous.
I’d recommend an American roadtrip
to anyone.
I love the place and the people.
To be honest, aside from the MAGA boot licking coalition, Americans are cool as f***
Cannot wait love America , Trump and the yanks . USA ALL THE WAY .
Alright, take it easy. Maybe not all the way...
I went to the last one over there doing a roadtrip in an RV, but I'm boycotting them now.
And we respect your decision!
Know a few Everton fans who went over last year for the same tournament (I think) and said it was absolutely mint. Apparently "soccer" fans from the US turn up, so you see shirts from every single team and everyone is just buzzed to meet UK fans.

Also it's a really big opportunity for the club to properly market themselves. Some clubs will do the bare minimum of pflying a palyer or two over or whatever. Others do big events with podcasts, or chances for fans to meet players etc.
It's true, if I hear ANYONE speak with a British accent, I try to talk to them about football as soon as I can. Soccer fans are a real minority over here, so we get pretty excited when we get to talk about the sport with people who get it.

Going to Vegas in April, could not believe the price of stuff when I started looking it up. Cost of living has went mental over the last few years. Was in Miami last year and I knew that was going to be bad but didn't realise everywhere had got so bad.

Hasn’t improved much, with the same staff no doubt
Sure. I posted this somewhere in this thread. Hopefully it’s helpful.

Food:
- Hattie B’s (Nashville hot chicken)
- Assembly food hall
It’s downtown Nashville in the midst of all the honky tonks. Has a bunch of different restaurants in one place.
- House of cards (little nicer/pricier)
A speak-easy restaurant with good steaks, cigars, drinks, etc. they have magicians that do card magic going around to each table during the night.

Bars/Pubs:
- just go to broadway (downtown Nashville). They’re everywhere.

Live music:
- Broadway honky tonks
- Ryman auditorium
- grand ole opry

Best places to stay:
- the soccer/football stadium is about 10-15 min drive from downtown. It’s pricier to stay downtown but there’s more to do.
- if you need a cheaper place, I’d suggest looking around the Music Valley in the Donelson area. It’s still about 15 min from the stadium. You can hit up the Opryland hotel as well as Opry Mills mall (shops restaurants)

Random stuff:
- jack Daniel’s distillery tour. It’s about a 45min drive from Nashville but it’s a great tour in a cool little town. You could spend 2-3 hours there.
- take in a minor league baseball game. Pretty cheap tickets.
- pedal taverns (if you like to drink)

Or if you wanna go to church on Sunday, you’re more than welcome at the church I go to. 😁
Red Phone Booth, prohibition style speakeasy - Cool bar with secret entrance through an old red British phone box.

I went to watch Philidelphia Union in 2024, didn't seem much round the ground but it's good for a drink there. They've got a 50ft long bar, loads of different beers on outside in a fanzone type thing, and the philly cheese steak in the ground beats a scabby burger you normally get over here, canny set up.

Noticed this last year been approached because of the accent. So much so one of the lads is flying over now and coming to the Brighton game next week.

One of my mates from my RN time is CEO of Nashville SC. We served together in Hong Kong in the early 80's.

He did well for himself and ended up as MD of Liverpool FC. Just messaged him absolutely down to him the game is in Nashville. Had some reet piss ups with him

Hope we get a pre-season game in German again (or europe at least) - ideally someone a bit bigger than Augsburg, but I'm not that picky tbf
