It's below them. VAR is just another referee who, in most cases, won't go against another referee. The on pitch ref bottled it on Saturday, then VAR wouldn't contradict his obvious ridiculous decision. Two poor referees. Together with the other officials, at least one of which probably saw the foul.

Fwiw, I don't really defend poor refereee performances much. I defend refs when people call them cheats, corrupt or have an agenda against Sunderland.

Against popular belief I'm more than happy to call something out when I think its poor. Truth is vast majority of times lots are these decisions are contentious and lots of these posters who twist about officials the most are basing there opinions on whether its benefitted sunderland or not. They would literally argue black is white from one week to the next

You're supposed to have an image in your head of a premier league referee of someone who is professional, unbiased, balanced and fair in every aspect of their life. To be in charge of events which matter so much to the lives of the normal population.

Youve only got to look at David Coote to see that this image is a crock of horseship
 
Gillet’s horrific performance at the weekend wasn’t enough to get him taken off the Villa v Chelsea game tomorrow by the looks of it.
