Abdoullah Ba

Seems a shame to miss out on so much football. He was erratic, sometimes alright, not at our level but got a few goals in the Championship. Young lad is sitting doing nowt. Surely he’s good enough to get on the pitch at some kind of midlevel here or abroad. Is that an agent problem?

agreed, really odd

Is it a him problem?

We obviously weren't throwing silly money about when we signed him in 2022. I've no idea what Le Harvè pay young 18 year olds but can't imagine it was riches. Perhaps he's quite happy to sit on his wage here (or at Dunkirk) until next summer (2027?) and do sod all.

66 championship appearances for us (4 goals)

Whilst not amazing, you'd think there's enough experience / ability there to at least have a decent lower league career either here or abroad. He wasn't great but we've seen far worse
You're right we've seen way worse. Shit like Power and Dobson have carved out careers in England at a lower level than Ba has played at. So he is definitely capable.

Dobson was never shite imo. Was asked to play a role he was highly unsuited to at a young age at a club that was a complete basket case. Honestly wouldn't surprise me to see him play in the PL (at Wrexham or somewhere else).

You'd think he would have had some loan offers at least.

Could be. I’ve assumed his wage isn’t one worth hanging onto like we had a problem with in the past with players we couldn’t get rid of.

Just can’t understand a player wanting to hang about & not play.

Yeah the few times I’ve watched Wrexham he’s played well. Could never fault his attitude when he was here, pleased for him

Was labelled shit on here after 5 games because of the way he ran

I am too. If Wrexham are on the tv when I'm in and he's playing I'll sit and watch and see how he's getting on. Always thought he had the potential to be a top Championship player which is what we were striving for when we signed him.

Could see there was a good player in him if he was used correctly when he was here.

I know. I remember. He's a canny player. Personally hope he does get a chance to compete at the top level. Met him in Cleadon once and he seemed a top lad. Wanted to succeed here more than anything after being highly rated at Charlton I think?

Premier league could be a stretch but you don't get made Captain at Walsall at a young age if you haven't at least got something about you.

As a regular, I agree. Just look at how many people have slated O'Nien on here from League 1. He'd be found out in the Championship. He'll not be a regular in the Championship. He'll not be here last summer. He'll never play against a PL opponent.

Same posters last week wanted him starting in a back 3/5 on Saturday lunchtime.

Development isn't linear. I've said it for years.
Agreed. Shite is far too high an accolade. I'd say he was absolutely f***ing woeful levels of utter shite

He absolutely wasn't mind. He was asked to play a role totally unsuited for him (a Xaha role, if you will) when we should have been asking him to play box to box and get in and around the opposition's area (a Diarra role)

He isn't a bad player. Never has been. He was the right signing at the right time, used in the wrong way.

And why is there absolutely no interest in him from any other club?

He's out in France at the moment isn't he or have I imagined that?

He's just never seemed to push on. Mind you, I couldn't tell you what position he's supposed to play 4 years later. Is it a defensive midfielder, right winger, a number 10 behind the striker? Not a clue.

Maybe we've offered to pay his contract up (like you say, ca t imagine he'd be on a big salary) and he's refused?
And why is there absolutely no interest in him from any other club?

Dobson has had interest in him. Just signed a new contract last week.

Spot on. Dobson was largely criticised because he ran funny.

He had all the tools but you could see his confidence go down by the week.

It was a horrible period and he didn’t stand up to it. I’m glad he’s recovered and found his feet again.
