Not renewing?

Great work 👍. Looking at those numbers it must be pretty difficult for some pensioners on low income to get a ticket. It's obviously open to abuse and likely to spark a different debate (and we don't want the thread shifted to the Politics board ), but do any clubs do concession prices these days? Probably wishful thinking but there will be a lot of folk already priced out of going to the match now, compared to the past, and that's a real shame IMO - football isn't an essential if money is tight but it's an important part of our community and people's identity, and at this rate the number excluded from it will only increase.
It's still not bad given it's £20 a game in yellow & blue and £25 in the red for the long term supporters and less that a couple of quid more for those who started during last 3 Championship seasons. It does look like the club are wanting the red section to be adults willing to pay top dollar and have Over 65s or those younger than 22 go into blue/yellow sections. The club removed the U16 from the red section a couple of seasons ago.

Other clubs have far worse concessions and often have far less concession availability as we've got one of the best but it's thanks to the SOL size. Some clubs milk fans due to the limits of stadiums and it's why Leeds generate £30m in match day from 35,000 fans as demand allows it. Whereas we get less matchday revenue from more fans. If we had the same pricing structure as Leeds then we'd see a hit on numbers. The mags are paying the price for chasing the Champions League and it's why their revenue has gone from £25m to £50m in last few seasons. Still nowhere near the big 6 though and they will reach a limit.

The slight tweaking with younger fans prices in red sections by us, changing of U16 to U14 is all understandable though and still not as bad as other clubs. The club have got to make the best out of it without affecting fans and having to move seats is a lot better than just pricing them right out. They'll hopefully look at extending rather than doing what many other clubs have done and just keep increasing prices.

This season our match day should be above Wolves but with the new renewals for next season, we'll probably be above Fulham in the 2026/27 books. We won't be above Everton as they've just moved stadium so will be nearer £30m I reckon, if not more. If the club even expands then I can see it going above £30m and possibly being 9th highest after West Ham (if they're still in the PL ).

The club have started to address the very low prices (comparatively to other PL and even championship teams) which we have had. Im fortunate that I can afford to pay anything within reason but they will settle down the increases now I think. Maybe they might chip away at the concessions a bit more? Dunno.

:eek::eek: How much are Brighton fans paying?

All 9 of us have renewed. Thing is, now with 38,500+ Standard season ticket holders and with home games completely sold out, a season ticket waiting list in the thousands and when away clubs send tickets back they are selling out too, if you dont renew you face the proposition of missing out for a long long time unless Stadium is extended. Club is in a win win position at the moment.
Why they won't extend just yet.

😳😱
Have they now changed that?
Sa

Same here, but each to their own. I'd have a different view if it was Green Day, Rammstein, Foo Fighters, Muse, SLF, Siouxsie or Gary Numan 😃.
I've got tickets for The Cure, in France, in the summer. Ooh! Look at me! 😉
Muse, SLF and Numan, out of that lot. Not a fan of Green Day, mind. I think they're about as punk as McFly or Busted.

Tbf a 20% rise looks bad on paper. But let's not forget that those of us paying 460 last season were paying some of the lowest prices in the PL, in fact there were championship clubs charging more. As long as further price rises don't take the piss we should be ok.

It's not ridiculous really. At a festival you have dozens of bands sharing the same sound and lighting equipment and most of the technical staff, all the bar staff, security etc. At a one-off top-end gig all the gear and personnel have to be paid for by just the headline act. It's obviously going to cost more "per band on the bill" than seeing bands at a festival.
I mean it's mainly because livenation who put on most of the gigs worldwide, own ticketmaster and so can charge what they want.

2015 Cheapest Adult Season ticket was £370 (£515 in today's money)

2026 Cheapest Adult Season ticket is £551

£36 increase on the back of the largest squad investment the club has seen and £10m spent (or projected to be spent) on the stadium over the last 12 months

Feels a huge jump but it's not bad really is it!

Exactly. We are very fortunate.

This was the 2025/26 price list and they charge a lot more for those U18 than we do and they don't have an U22 price band so anyone 18 years old pays adult prices.

Even considering corporate, to generate that amount of revenue from 31k probably means they've also have an older average age of supporters. This is the problem for fans of clubs that sell out as many fans renew season after season so fewer new younger fans can get to the game with parents to follow their footsteps.

Although they do have a family zone, the U10 price for Zone D (purple) is only for fans staying in same seat as it looks it's being phased our. They're basically removing kids prices from quite a lot of seats on the long stands. It's our red zone equivalent but theirs is bigger. We've also dropped our U16 in red sections recently also but our U18 price is £230 this renewal (£185 to compare 2025/26 season), while their U18 price is £430.

The other * on the pricing is that U10s are not allowed in the Safe standing at the top half of the North stand. They're now expanding it to the front of most of the North stand. Chances are they won't allow new U10s in there but possibly allow them to renew but on the understanding view could be restricted if they don't choose to move.

If we keep selling out and don't expand (as some fans are scared of hurty words about empty seats) then this is what will happen to us season after season. In the last 2 seasons we've seen the U16 age band be reduced to U14. The prices for the concessions that were all around the ground have been split into North/South and East/West to push younger kids into the 2 ends rather than the premium viewing long stands by increasing the prices by quite a percentage.

Though to be fair to the club they were cheap for many seasons but that's why we had so many fans during the shit years. Now we're in the Premier League then demand is well up as footy has grown loads since we were last there averaging 43,000. With natural crowd growth in Premier League with many teams expanding to cope with their demand, we'd probably be nearer 53,000 if we had a 60k capacity now with the same reasonable prices.

We don't have that spare capacity any more so the club is losing potential revenue unless it changes things. Sadly that means the revising and increasing won't stop if the demand is there. The concession areas will possibly shrink, the age bands may be removed from sections and pricing will go up. That means younger fans U21 will have to pay more to get into then games and some may well miss out as it's the adults who pay the full price that the greedy clubs would love to take the seats if demand exceeds supply.

Their pies must be expensive. That's a lot of revenue from a considerably smaller seating capacity.

Heh, by coincidence I just watched this YouTube video where guitar legend Steve Lukather is talking about things going wrong at gigs, and towards the end he starts discussing how much it costs to put a tour on...

Seems lately a fair few are not turning up. The Brighton lad on the pod was saying the new breed fan had started to get a bit bored hence empty seats and fans not turning up. They are at their historical best too so it’s interesting to see how long the premier league fan stays around for them when their progress has all but stalled now. A few clubs will have that like Bournemouth but they have such a small stadium they would have to really struggle not to sell out down there. Same as the ammers, huge new ground the shiny has been well and truly rubbed off even winning something lately hasn’t stopped fans f***ing off from that shit stadium and terrible product on the pitch.

All clubs need to be careful, pushing out your core fanbase flashing your knickers at the casual fair weather wanting to see premier football fan doesn’t last long once the newness has worn off. Ticket prices in the grand scheme of things are absolutely nowt at the end of the day it’s why we get kick offs fucked about with because the big money is tv.
