Early leavers and final whistle on Sunday

Mags you mean?
Mostly but they aren't the only ones. Seen comments from 'fans' of other clubs, a lot of whom probably couldn't point to 'their' club's ground on a map.

We all know it happens at most clubs, and it's massively affected by performance, results etc but it's been particularly bad this season.

People need to start calling it out in the ground and embarrass them.

I’ve seen it happen a few times over the years. Usually due to those f***ing it off deciding to stop in the gangway blocking the view of folk trying to watch the match.

Also, remember the “I’m staying til the end” chants very early days of the SoL to try and shame those sneaking out early.

Problem is, it’s just accepted now and those of us staying til the end (especially if getting beat or conceding a late goal are now in the minority)

Could see all the fans who were there in league one still there today. The band wagoners spat the dummy out
I was there in league one and I was also there in 1987 in Division 3. Season ticket every year since 1985. I usually stay until the end but today I thought fuck it, they were getting nowt from the game. As soon as the third went in I was up and off. No band wagon or dummies here pal so fuck off

So you’re worried about what nobodies say on the internet. One day you’ll grow up and not give a shite about these things. It’s really good mate 👍

Sounds like you spat the dummy out pal

Think plenty of them were mate. The Roker End used to haemorrhage people then too. Don't get it and never will. Been going 48 years and haven't ever been out of the ground before the final whistle. Must be utterly shite for our players seeing their so called supporters f***ing off with a good 15 minutes to play. Shite fans, simple as that.
I could understand people leaving early after some of the shite defeats in league one but today after a great season so far was pathetic and embarrassing tbh
Could be on to something mate, lifetime bans for the all those who fuck off and desert the team. Reduce the capacity to 30K.
I’d be happy with that

They did in the SEC and some bearded bloke bit like fuck and tried to get to the lad who shouted about beating the traffic. Made himself look like a complete arse, offering the lad out at the next home game and stuff. Shouted that he lived 30 mile away too 😂

You clearly don't understand the influence both social media nobodies and the actual msm have on how a football club is perceived which then impacts on all aspects of how its run.

Negative comments or perceived slights about fanbase, team selections etc fuel difficulties we may have in attracting the next level of players we're looking to recruit, bring the club under the spotlight for negative reasons etc. Almost every footballer in the world has socials accounts where they promote themselves etc. One day you might grow up and realise the footy echo isn't the voice of football anymore. Its really good 'mate' 👍🏻

I've "been there" for donkeys years, so I do see it. Presumably you're also there to see it?

But I also know we're on the TV and I also see social media afterwards, which is populated with whoppers having a go at our support as if its the only place it happens.

I accept you'll always have people who, for good and bad reasons, leave games early. I've even done it myself on the very odd occasion, hopefully for a positive reason.

The difference is we're enjoying the best season for decades and it's happening every game and in big numbers. It's quite simply 💩.

I'd put money on the ones streaming out are the ones who jumped on the bandwagon again once we achieved promotion back to the PL. And will quickly lose their 'refound' love should we ever suffer a relegation.
FWIW I agree with you, as soon as Fulham’s 3rd went in they were pooring out in droves.
But the club can’t do anything about it, imagine how it would look on social media forcing everyone to stay until the end! I don’t think it happens every game though, it happened today in large scale due to the poor performance and the result.

Agree too. But maybe the club/branches could do something to find out why its happening in such large numbers. Obviously its partially due to performance but even when we win/winning you always have a sizeable element disappearing. Maybe its a combination of factors, including poor infrastructure and transport links, as well. I know that lots of our support who head south have long had issues with the rail service for example.

Today was a disgrace. Literally as soon as the 3rd went in there was a massive exodus. Extend the stadium? You're having a laugh, be lucky if there's 30k real fans
Didn’t even surprise me in the slightest.
Certainly reduces the chances of a fight back when 20,000 people decide the game is over with 15 minutes still to play.
It’s always happened. Unfortunately we have a lot of customers rather than supporters.

We have about 30k “hardcore” fans, the ones who turned up week in week out in league one.

The rest are just fair weather fans, they’ll turn up when the going is good but don’t expect them to hang around when the teams not performing.
100% correct....and it makes the recent speculation of a stadium "extension" to a figure of 60000 a non-starter..If our form takes a nose-dive there'll be plenty empty seats. It's happened in the past and will happen again....and on a lighter note our TPE train back up to Edinburgh was an hour late leaving Central this evening, so we'll get our full fare back with the delay/repay scheme..
