Durham CCC

I was looking at the river this morning and for the first time in many weeks I could see a single bank being exposed by low tide. It's getting back to normal. One thing to note is that just downstream of the Riverside there's a weir. This will have the effect of moderating the water levels aroudn teh ground.

Not the most mature of responses. Is it not a justifiable concern that there has been no announcement as yet when most counties have been announcing quality signings recently?
Concern maybe but if there's no new there's no news and plenty of time to go, some of the players signed who played bit part of loans turned into permanent were probably with this season in mind.

Light rain clearing by 10.00am. 😀
10 day forecast still largely dry.
However,I expect an alternative warm weather venue for pre-season to be announced forthwith.

Those fielding drills not in any way replicating real match situations. We have amateur leadership leading a supposedly professional outfit
Does like a bit like a local club practice

Always annoys me when they do that type of slip catching practice where it slides of the bat nicely, most slip catches are of the edge so the ball is spinning about making it much harder to catch

It’s what every team does, county and international. They’ll spend hundreds of hours preparing for the season, they’d have started in November and will go right up to date one of the new season. I’m not concerned about how hard they’ll have worked. It’s about repetition as much as anything else, respectfully you’re seeing problems that don’t exist here marra.

Not disputing that they work through the winter -purely fitness up to the new year then into cricket in the new year. It was the slip catching routine and and simplistic outfield catching that didn't mimic realistic situations that I was questioning.
Perhaps it was simplistic because it was outside in cold conditions. and avoiding finger injuries.
We clearly have different perspectives.
If that's the norm,it goes some way to explain England's dropped catches epidemic.😀

Interestingly Zak Crawley is playing for Kent against Surrey in a friendly this week, so it’s probable we’ll face him next week. With that in mind, surely there’s no reason why Stokes can’t play some cricket for us in the opening month or so.

Havent seen this confirmed anywhere, good to have him in if it is a permanent thing.

Some good and bad news for durham with Stokes, will likely miss the Kent game but will play some of the 50 over stuff
