ID checks for away tickets

Yes, I've been all over with spurs and never had to pick up there.

Fiorentina, juve, Dortmund and Barcelona.

name sometimes printed on ticket but they were handwritten so just wiped off with a baby wipe.
Wonder why it’s different then for other clubs
I’m prepared to stand corrected

theirs a certain branch in particular (i'll mention no names) that has been recently banned from buying tickets because of the amount of tickets they have been passing on to other people.....

so the club are trying to crack down

but that still doesn't stop the branch from buying the tickets in the normal phases, they are just banned from the 'ring fenced' 40 tickets code
Wow. I am shocked but great info. Not sure the "penalty" is overly severe but I don't mind that too much. Hopefully it'll stop them doing it again
Hope so

Good to see that the club are doing something about it. Not all branches are like that but unless it's stopped, all branches could be hit with the same sanction
I am sure you are right. Just like the rest of us 97/98% of Branches operate properly

Yea all the ban has done is create more work for the fella who runs it , instead of getting the 40 tickets in 1 transaction with the “ring fence “ he now has to buy them individually…..Hes still handing the tickets out to who he wants tho even after the branch ban.

I’ve always defended the branches but this certain branch is really bad for handing out tickets to whoever wants them.

Interested where you are getting your information from, you seem very well informed?

Unauthorised selling of football tickets in the UK is a criminal offence under the
Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 and can lead to severe penalties, including hefty fines and football banning orders. Clubs also impose their own strict sanctions on offenders, such as cancelling memberships and indefinite stadium bans.

Criminal Punishments (UK Law)
  • Fines: An individual convicted of the offence is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale, which can be up to £5,000.
  • Football Banning Orders (FBOs):Courts can impose FBOs, which restrict individuals from attending designated football matches.
    • If no immediate prison sentence is imposed, an FBO can last for a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years.
    • Breaching an FBO is a separate offence, punishable by up to six months' imprisonment.
  • Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings: Convicted individuals may have their finances investigated and any profits gained from illegal sales confiscated.

Club Sanctions
In addition to criminal penalties, football clubs take robust action against individuals found to be selling tickets illegally:
  • Ticket Invalidation: Tickets sold through unauthorised channels are often cancelled, and the holder will be refused entry to the stadium.
  • Account Suspension and Bans: Season ticket holders or members found touting their tickets face severe sanctions, including the blocking of their accounts and suspension or indefinite bans from attending matches.
  • Police Reporting: Clubs will share intelligence with other clubs and the Premier League, and in cases of serious fraud, will report the matter to the police for prosecution.
To avoid these penalties, supporters should only purchase or sell tickets through official club channels or a verified Ticketmaster Fan Resale system, where permitted.

going into a football stadium under the influence of alcohol is banned in the UK (England, Wales, and Scotland). 90% of our away end would be refused entry if this was enforced, some rules are rightly ignored and common sense is used, im fine with ID checks and now just take ID to save any hassle, woukd be nice if the club had communicated before Man City etc , what I don’t get is the clamour from some of our fanbase for us to be be controlled

It's largely the people now wanting to build their points up when previously they've not bothered coupled with fans wanting to get to the big games like City, Man United, Chelsea etc. Not saying people should just get away with giving their tickets to others but there's definitely more scrutiny of it now we're back in the PL. Nobody was arsed about this 12 months ago

Don't think I could be arsed with the faff to be honest

Hopefully the club know who they all are and flag them for ID checks every game

I’ve actually been a member of this certain branch in previous season and I’m still in their private Facebook group so I’m well upto date with what’s going on with them

Wouldn’t take much to be honest. Just look up the persons name and see how many tickets he’s bought on his account and ID them all.

You can only buy a maximum of 9 per transaction at a time so this person must be doing at least 5/6 transactions

It obviously becomes a bigger issue back in the PL. Demand is through the roof, so people can blindly buy tickets for every game knowing they can shift them on and just accumulate points.

Look at all of the clubs with the best away followings in the league. All of them have inplemented stricter processes and checks.

Not saying I don't agree with it but it is just a shame the demand wasn't as high in the Championship and League one, naturally

Exactly mate, and if they really wanted to target the problem it would be easy to do that with the online selling that goes on, rather than just controlling the whole fan base, as other loyal fans have said they have been genuinely ill and couldnt make games this season, they done the right thing by the club letting them know but sounds like been punished then put on the naughty list, and they are out of pocket too when they could have sold it to a fellow fan at face value, those fans should be allowed to pass their ticket on without any issues imo , the irony is the people kicking up a fuss will prob have less opportunity to go to away games as there will be less genuine spares available from people who can’t attend and the tickets go to waste, I seen something online from a Man City fan about their home empty seats and he said it’s practically impossible for him to give his ticket to a mate if he can’t go…it’s this controlling theme which it’s going towards I don’t agree with

Couldn't agree more mate.

Why is it a shame? It's the nature of demand. We had a waiting list for season tickets this season...it's not a shame that we didn't have one last year.

It stands to reason that more people want to go to a midweek away to Liverpool than a midweek away to Preston. We are in a better league with better players.

fickle bastards the lot of them mate. Talk to me about doing Accrington away 3 times in a month

This is a disgrace and frankly impacts on the reputation of all Branches. I'd be surprised if guys who run other Branches don't try and get this guy to stop

Imagine thinking supporting Sunderland all awa the country is about watching better players and been in a better league

The frustrating thing is, a lot of those that are now screaming to build up points are the same ones that walk away when things go to shit.

As I posted easier, people really need to be careful for what they wish for because I can just see much stricter checks resulting in a much more closed shop.

Well that’s upto the other branches. I’m just saying what I know for a fact.

Clubs done what they can with stopping the branch code but the branch are still doing it with just buying tickets in more transactions.

Something needs doing about it
