Abdoullah Ba

Aye so coach him

You think they didn't try? Spend a 1m on a kid and then not bother?

Not every thing is coachable, otherwise everyone would end up at the same level.

He was an absolutely shit footballer btw, who had decent pace and athleticism. That's why he' can barely find a club now. Probably paid five to ten times more than he'll get anywhere else.

One of the worst performances put in in a Sunderland shirt in recent history was him playing centre mid against Cardiff on his first start. He never started there again.

He was absolute wank in every position he played. 'Ruined by Mowbray' ffs.

Eye-watering stuff wasn't it. Didn't have a footballing brain at all.

Belter you like, wonder if the football club ever thought of this outstanding bit of advice. Imagine that, coaching footballers.
We were desperate for a winger and had plenty of midfielders tried to save money by converting him , yes people actually improve parts of their game from been young from decent coaching wringing him off because he had 1 bad game centre midfield

You think they didn’t try to coach him where they thought he would be best suited?

Mowbray briefly played him centrally, then in a more attacking role. Then wide. He also spoke about him not understanding his duties in this type of football after he played centrally. Speakman also spoke about him potentially playing wide left.

Beale played in right and then in an attacking right sided central role.

Le Bris didn't even entertain him.

One very experienced manager, three experienced youth coaches, two of whom have became head coaches and one a DoF.

Yet you know better 😃😃😃😃

The poster's ego is impressive.

No because we had older more experienced players there couldn’t get games to develope so we tried to turn him into a winger as we only had Robert’s so he could get games

Older more experienced players like Dan Neil at the start of his second full season. Whereas Ba had played in Ligue 2 over the previous two seasons similar to Neil.

Then later we brought in Ekwah who hadn't played at all.

Then the next season we brought in 17 year old Jobe Bellingham when we started to move Ba wide. Strangely playing Jobe as an 8, 10, up front didn't harm his development as much as you're suggesting it did to Ba.

Yeah all big strong lads they needed a right winger separately and seen it as a way of giving him games they signed him he was a centre midfielder looked promising too

They played him wide to try and limit his weaknesses and gain from his athleticism. He hasn't really found a positon as he's not a very good footballer.

No was to try save us buying another winger and as he was a bit skinny to be sarting in the centre he should of been given a chance to prove himself was hung out to dry
