Burnley Forum

Never takes a single shred of responsibility for a defeat. The Burnley fans and a lot of their players must have a serious lingering dislike of him at this point
I was talking to one after the game last night. They feel he has given up and is happy to blame the players. He doesn't seem to have plan. They don't know what direction he wants to go with the squad.

Said it at the time, that late spurs leveler would of hurt, then to see Forest win at Brentford the following day, ouch. We got a tad unlucky with the timing of the WHU game but this one was perfect timing imo.

The point is that our players should be better than that. We showed at the start of the season that Burn;ey's players can compete on level terms with Sunderland's players. But since then Sunderland have been sent out by your manager to go and win games; our players have been sent out to go and draw.

I thnk te problem yesterday was that it was a game that we (theortetically) had a chance to win, so of course the players were sent out in the usual style to keep possession and play the possession game until someone scores. This is never Burnley; when we play that tactic, we always let in the first goal. The last three games against Man U, Spurs, and Liverpool were more "free hits" in that we little theoretical chance of winning, and so the players had a bit more freedom.

Parker stifles them. He will not venture to try and win if it means risking drawing. He never would - that's why both our games last year were so dull (on our side at lease), because all he was interested in was defending. And it's why we had 12 0-0 draws last season - because even at home to poor sides, he wouldn't risk attacking when there was a point to be held on to.
Early in the season when Sunderland's squad hadn't gelled Burnley best us in a poor game. The Sunderland squad has now gelled and Burnley's squad seems to have stagnated. (Theoretically) Burnley could win any game, practically they will find it difficult to win any game. Sunderland need to get better to stay in that top group, Burnley need to look at how they rebuild or it could be a longer drop than the Championship. L1 could beckon. I wouldn't wish that on a club that I've admired since the sixties.

It’s a prime example of why you shouldn’t really make sweeping statements on teams you know absolutely nothing about. I can see why they’d be confident of finishing above us at the start of the season. 24 points is a sizeable gap and Burnley fans know as much as anyone how difficult the jump is to the Premier League. I hadn’t heard of any of our new signings other than Xhaka and Adingra, and that’s only because we were in for him in January.

I feel sorry for any away fans who travelled last night. They look like a team who gave up weeks ago. As has been said before, for a game they absolutely needed to win that was a ghastly performance by their players. Plenty of us know what it feels like to see our side not win in 15 (?) games and it’s utterly depressing.

The sensible ones will eat the slice of humble pie and appreciate how well the club has been run compared to theirs in the last few years. It’s going to be tough for them to make it back up next year. They must be lumbered with an expensive squad that has little to no resale value in it. Confidence will be rock-bottom and the rot is incredibly difficult to cure in a league like the Championship. I’d be seriously worried about the future of the club if I was them.

What a load of bollocks. The facts are we haven’t dropped out the top 10 nearly all season, are now 8th (3 points off Liverpool in 6th), are unbeaten at home, and you’s haven’t won since October. You have a championship quality team and we have built a prem side that competes. Kindly kick rocks.

He gave up in October I am surprised they stuck with him unless he is best option to get them back out of the Championship again

I honestly thought they’d have ago at us and give us a really tough match. The reality was, we never had to get out of second gear.

Really poor team. It’s just frustrating we played them at Turf Moor so early in the season.
Unfortunately we didn’t get out of 1st gear in the away game. Last season they played very similar way to us, they just did it a lot better/more consistently than we did. This season though we’ve took it to another level, they’ve thought what they did last season would be enough. Even Wolves and WestHam had some sort of goal threat. Burnley had nothing and for a defensive side their defence was lifting. The early goal pretty much killed it and Parker’s inability to change it up just ment we could just stroll through the game.

Same. I saw it as a potential banana skin game, but fortunately we approached the game with the right attitude. They didn’t. I was really surprised with how poor they were tbh.
