Burnley Forum

West Ham won't get a better chance to catch up three points on Forest/Leeds. Bowen and Summerville should have a shooting competition.

It’s absolute must win for West Ham on Sat. If Leeds and Forest play out a draw on the Fri night, then they will be 7 adrift.

Although West Ham beat us, it was easily our worst performance of the season. Let’s not forget, West Ham went to Wolves and got hammered.

Worse than that . Its a "market town" not a city. TBF they were well ahead of us in the Championship final table.
Scott "the chewing gum" Parker has been let down with shite purchases.
Not a market town, really... it's the archetypal Lancashire mill town, now devoid of most of its working mills. Proud little town and decent folk.
And they were a good top-flight side through most of the 1960s. Decent players... Jimmy McIlroy, Andy Lochead, Ralph Coates, Willie Morgan to name but a few.

They were easily the worst team I’ve seen this year and it’s not even close.

Wolves are a funny team, because while they are soft as shite, especially at the back, some of their midfielders can play a bit.

That team last night looked quite a bit worse than Burnley’s team last year. They’ve gone backwards.

For those who like this sort of thing: it was officially the lowest XG of any team, in any game, all season.

I think it was a sack-worthy performance tbh. Couple of their centre halves had a bit of pride, but the rest threw in the towel in at 1-0. And they are going nowhere long-term with Parker.

worst team we've played all season. it was almost a training exercise

sure we were deliberately trying to loose the ball at various points just to make it interesting out of boredom

“You can’t tell me their starting 11 is that much better than ours quality wise. No discernible style of play. We have the most long balls in the league yet 2 touches in their box. The worst passing accuracy yet all our passing is sideways. This guy won’t get us back up if this rot continues. It’s absolutely turgid.”

Absolutely insane considering they lost 3-0 and looked league 1 level

They had drawn their last 3 v Man United spurs and Liverpool in the League
Also smashed à good Millwall side 5-1 in the cup in between
So came in on decent form -Burnley fans probably didn’t expect the demolition-we played well ànd restricted their opportunities to zero

Good championship players look dogshit in the Premier league. Edwards would be great playing Coventry but was terrible against us.

I was thinking that. When you have no shots on target and the commentators keep repeating that fact, you're on borrowed time.
They looked clueless, but you could be very capable and still get relegated with a keeper like him.

Other than the admittedly dubious first sentence, he’s talking about them.

Where's that from?

The point is that our players should be better than that. We showed at the start of the season that Burn;ey's players can compete on level terms with Sunderland's players. But since then Sunderland have been sent out by your manager to go and win games; our players have been sent out to go and draw.

I thnk te problem yesterday was that it was a game that we (theortetically) had a chance to win, so of course the players were sent out in the usual style to keep possession and play the possession game until someone scores. This is never Burnley; when we play that tactic, we always let in the first goal. The last three games against Man U, Spurs, and Liverpool were more "free hits" in that we little theoretical chance of winning, and so the players had a bit more freedom.

Parker stifles them. He will not venture to try and win if it means risking drawing. He never would - that's why both our games last year were so dull (on our side at lease), because all he was interested in was defending. And it's why we had 12 0-0 draws last season - because even at home to poor sides, he wouldn't risk attacking when there was a point to be held on to.
