Geertruida

We could have played him in his preferred position every game this season and if Liverpool had given him a shout this morning he would still have wanted to go.

Yes it leaves us in the shit if it’s just happening now, more likely scenario is that we’ve been aware of their interest for a while and that’s part of the reason why he didn’t play last weekend.

Critical couple of days ahead, particularly with Xhaka out. Don’t want to see Hume in midfield for us again.

Hope we’ve got a couple of CM’s on their way as we are going to need them.

I doubt they're going to be off Geertruidas quality on the last day of the January window.

We are in a bit of danger of looking short in a couple of key areas now. Possibly exiting the window weaker than when we went into it. Nobody expected that.
No one knows for sure either way what will happen before the deadline like, I’m keeping an open mind on it all.

Be losing a top player here

We can’t be happy about

I’d love to think this would make us sign one or two but it could all be too late

The recent games after Brentford are obviously to do with him deciding he wants away, which other games should he have played and ahead of who?
If he wanted away before Brentford then he would of been touted and gone by now, whatever suits your agenda.

What's the lesson if we couldn't afford to sign someone like Geertruida in the summer?

Do without?
Sign someone we can actually afford?

No indication whatever we couldn't have afforded him since every report says we have plenty to spend.

Loan players almost always leave you in a mess. You can't control what happens with them and the better they play the bigger the hole in the team they leave behind.

The club have got alot of decisions right this season but this is one is a big mistake. He should be starting weekly for us. I mentioned on the Geertrudia thread 2/3 weeks back that i wouldn’t be suprised to see him leave as i bet he’s pissed off seeing the likes of Hume play ahead of him
Hume who's having a very good season, or would he play ahead of Mukiele who is a very good footballer? Or Ballard? Or Sadiki? Or Xhaka?

What a f***ing own goal this is from us.

£20 mil for a guy that can play 3 positions

Should have been more involved like.
It wouldn't have made any difference whatsoever. On what planet would him starting a few games means he turns down Liverpool for us?

Would have made no difference to the result of this if he had been starting or not ffs

Nothing happens without our say so. We hold all the cards and puts us in a strong negotiating position as there is no break or recall clause. It boils down to "Liverpool interested in Sunderland player".

Very disappointed in this, but we have to trust in the people who have navigated us to the PL.

Geetrudia did say at the last event he wanted to move to a 'big club' in the next 2 years. We have to remember we are not fashionable after so many years in the wilderness, but are seen as a nice stepping stone for players to enjoy their football while being in the shop window, which is clearly evident.

Wish him all the best.

Just would have prefered him to have been playing midfield against west ham.
