Points needed to stay up

Nuno got West Ham running it seems. Leeds, Forest and Palace are in big trouble.
Think Leeds will be okay, they’ve impressed me over the last couple of months. Forest look pretty weak but Palace are the ones for me, look absolutely flat as a team and a club. Their stock was high last May, strange how things can fall apart in less than 12 months.

  • Most points in a season while being relegated:
    • 42 games: 49, ( )
    • 38 games: 42, ()
  • Most points while bottom of the league:
    • 42 games: 40, ()
    • 38 games: 34, ()
Well you can scrub the Palace and Forest 92-93 season as it was before the Premier League was reduced to 20 teams.
Average of last 20 seasons has been about 35 points for safety, as low as 28 and high as 38, none above 40.

We've got 15 games left and 3 wins and a draw would put us on 43 points (or 2 wins 4 draws) so do people really think it's an issue for us and that 7 of the teams below us will get above us?

I hope for the sake of those who think we're threatened by relegation that we beat Burnley Monday

This thread is peak Sunderland supporter in places, isn't it?

I don't blame anybody - you know, history - but despite the fact that we're unbeaten at home, could go top 8 if we win Monday, we're counting points in January/February.

Season tickets should come with psychiatrist vouchers.
