Durham CCC 2026

Raymondo

Central Defender
Good news regarding the signing of Bedingham, but I can’t help but feel concerned at the lack of other business. Surely the club don’t think they can go straight back up with the squad that got relegated last year? Albeit with the additions made prior to seasons end…

Either way, I was sat in the office this morning looking at the fixtures and trying to work out what time off I’d need for an away trip or two. Probably shouldn’t be getting as excited as I was for a bit of county cricket in January - BUT, it’ll sharp come round.

Batting attack looks as strong as anything in the division, but the bowling attack is bare. Outside of Potts and Raine we have Connors, Hogg, Bailey and two all-rounders in Rhodes and Aldridge, who both have first class bowling averages nearing 40. Unless we sign a solid third seamer, we need someone to have a breakthrough season or perform beyond usual form.

The spin options don't inspire confidence either but given most of the FC season will be played in April and September, it is likely not to matter.

Sadly I retain little faith the club will start heading back in the right direction so long as the chairman, chief executive and DoC remain the same.

The bowling attack has been causing us headaches for years and for whatever reason North seems incapable of rectifying it.

The chairman is a puppet appointed by the other two so I'm afraid the foreseeable future of our once great club is very bleak.

Any updates on the hotel?
Surely they need to sort out their own premises first.....was at a meeting in the Geoff Cook suite recently and rain was pissing thru the ceiling, carpet is a disgrace.... Heating didnt seem to be working properly either......thank god cricket is played in summer

Bowling is weak AF. Barring Matty Potts rediscovering his 2023 form I think we'll finish bottom half.
I agree. I doubt we'll see Wood, although I wish we could, even at half pace.

I think we have to hope for more development and fitness in the bowlers, Raine aside.

A story yesterday about Stokes moving into coaching, so it's possible we won't see much of him. Although, it's also reported that he's hoping to play 2-3 games in red ball. Obviously, injuries may come into play.

Wonder if the second-hand bookshop gets a stock refresh.

Surely it's not just me that sees him as a potential future DCCC head coach, if that's his chosen future path.

Depends on what he wants. I wonder if he's looking more to the International arena. And, a bit like football management, you have to go where the jobs are.
