Sunderland AFC U18s

I'm sorry like but footballs gone when you are happy to concede goals. It's just suicide football

Not even the 1st team takes these risks.
No need for sorry mate .. my only addition is this is not first team and it’s testing the ability to execute their skill set

I'll never accept it. Teams got relegated "playing the right way"

I'm glad Le Bris is wise enough to ditch it when he sees fit, just like the play off semis vs Coventry
Patto punting the ball out of play constantly is part of the reason he was not considered by the club to be PL level, even under Le Bris you're going to have be able to play out.

It’s here to stay mate some words from Murts in a recent echo interview
Sunderland conceded the equaliser against Newcastle after attempting to play out from the back, a moment that reflected the club’s wider footballing philosophy – something Murty was keen to address head-on. “We give goals away playing out from the back because we demand our centre-halves feed the midfield. We demand that our goalkeeper looks into the pitch rather than just going off.
“I take all of the blame for every goal we’ve given away doing that because it’s what I demand the players do. When they execute it, and it comes off, it’s really good. When they don’t quite execute it, and it costs us something, we have to then use that as a really, really good teaching opportunity. But, once again, my staff and I demand that they are brave enough to go and play, so I can’t be too mad when it goes awry.”
I bet you were over the moon when Ekwah gave the ball away at the edge of the box against Newcastle. Atleast he was playing the right way

Nor it wasn't man. Le Bris didn't want to risk it due to Coventry's press.
Now you are just being facetious 😬
He was trying to play the right way man. Who cares if we concede.

I'm glad the first team are pragmatic with it. If its on then yes but no real unnecessary risks.

The u18s and u21s on the other hand. It's kamikaze football at times

The second SAFC goal tonight, dunno what the West Brom lad is doing trying a fancy turn like that on the edge of his own box.

It’s youth football. Of course they want to win, as we saw today, but ultimately it’s better for them to make mistakes at this level and learn the repercussions of those mistakes. If they make them here or elsewhere, they already know they have the ability to play out, but they also need to learn when to go long and be pragmatic, however I dont see the need for in at U18s level, 21s id probably agree more

That’s why I personally prefer kids to go out on loan, even to the NPL or NLN, at 17 or 18. They’ll make mistakes, get bollocked, and quickly realise what three points are actually worth. If these lads get knocked out in the next round or two, I’d like to see a lot of the second-years who are expected to get pro's getting senior minutes, for local clubs

I wish the club would make some sort of app (or even just an iCal fixture list) with the fixtures of upcoming reserve/u18 games available to watch. I always seem to miss them.

I’d absolutely love us to win the youth cup, it’s one of them competitions we never seem to get very far in.
