Thank you Dan Neil

Dont know if this has been mentioned but has anyone seen any comment from any of the lads who joined in the summer? Expected acknowledgement from Xhaka at least.

I'm hoping that the newer players and RLB are letting those who knew and played alongside Dan for years to make their acknowledgements first, before passing comment.

Certainly, he was both liked and respected reading this article

Can understand the newer players not saying anything but it'll be shit if there's nothing from Le Bris, no doubt will get a question about him at the press conference.
Hopefully it’s just that Le Bris isn’t one for grand public statements, but when asked I’m sure he’ll speak positively about the lad’s efforts unless something really bad happened behind the scenes.

I cant imagine there'll be much discussion or Dan Neil content after today so ad be surprised if Regis or Granit were quoted now

Jobe Bellingham on Dan Neil’s departure: “When I think back on my fondest memories - and even some of the toughest days - in a Sunderland shirt, Dan was always by my side. In difficult moments, he never stopped trying to help me and everyone else around the team and the Club. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner through both the highs and the lows. At times, it felt like I was playing not just for myself, but for him and his aspirations. You could see how much Sunderland meant to him, and that passion spread throughout the entire Club. In my eyes, he was an incredible captain and he will always be a Sunderland legend.”

The academy manager who didnt even work with Dan Neil has been quoted despite the fact Neil is 24 with 200 first team appearances. No one is expecting a big long statement but thanks and good luck would be nice from the manager.

Always gave everything and the few plonkers who seem to have a issue with him are irrelevant - they never noticed what his role actually was and missed all the fantastic work he does in the midfield blocking gaps, covering runners and breaking up attacks. He’s also really good at creating space and is ALWAYS willing to get on the ball and never shirks that responsibility.

Ipswich have made a great decision here and with all he will have learnt in the last few months training with our current squad there can’t be many midfielders in that league better than Dan Niel.
Knock ‘em dead Dan. And say hello to JC for us!

He’s only going out on loan for crying out loud - he hasn’t died.
Hopefully he will have a fantastic few months and put into practise what he’s been learning training with the current squad.

He's not coming back, so unless Le Bris is waiting for his contract to come to an end before commenting then it's a bit strange he hasn't said anything about it like a lot of players and former players have.

He’s going on loan for 3 months - I think we are losing some perspective here.

It really isn’t that unusual.
He’s going on loan to get minutes on the pitch.

The club have got quotes from coaches, players, ex players and nothing from the manager? it's a bit odd I would say.

Looks like he’s gone and with the loan lasting the period of his contract it’s clear he’s kicked his last ball for the club.

Thank you Dan, you lived the dream, played for your boyhood club. Helped drag it from its lowest ebb. Won at Wembley the place of that famous picture of you in the crowd in 2014.

You always give your all, you captained the side in some tough times but played a big part in putting the club back to where we all think it should be.

Good luck in the future I hope we someday see you back at the Sol on the pitch in the premier league. Thank you for two of the best moments I’ve had following Sunderland those two play off final wins. All the best lad always red and white.
He loved the club that much , he refused to sign a contract, , had a good career at a club he supported as a kid , every kids dream, but dont sugar coat it , he though he was bigger than the club , he wasnt good enough for the premier league, thats why Ipswich have took him , good championship player , no where near premier league, and club after training him and taking him as far as he's came , will get no compensation for their input, its not a one way street

Is that the jobe who used SAFC as a stepping stone ?

I have a lot of time for Dan, a great club servant, but Régis deciding to hook him at Wembley helped us win the game - and promotion.
Don't know if he was carrying a knock, but he was very poor in that first half. It may have influenced Le Bris moving forward.
Story on the day was he was cramping up.

Yeah. Why, is Jobe not allowed to pay a compliment to Dan Neil for the help and advice he gave to him?

Honestly, there are some pathetically miserable, mealy mouthed cretins on here masquerading as Sunderland fans.
Central midfield of , jobe and niel , or xhaka , Sadiki and Diarra, ?
I know whitch one i prefer as a sunderland supporter and value for money 👍

He had cramp and was visibly suffering 2nd half, could barely move.

Having watched it back since where initially I thought we were dreadful first half, Neil was the only central midfielder getting on the ball, keeping it moving and spreading play. He didn't control things by any means, but also didn't play badly at all 1st half when United were trying to suffocate us in midfield and Enzo couldn't get on the ball.

People only seem to remember how it ended and that it changed. But it only changed as United tired, had to take Hamer off and it left space for Roberts, Watson and Le Fee further back now had the space to play in without the same level of intensity and physicality they wouldn't have faced earlier.
We'd rested our players, avoided injuries and kept faith with young Tommy, in the face of much condemnation on here. They ran out of steam to the point where they set up our winner.

Look, players come and go. It's a job. Only us fans are permanent. Dan good but now we have better. He twisted over contract cause he believed he could better it, rightly so. Sentiment exists only in hearts of us fans

I haven't mentioned the lad nor pretended I understand what transpired behind the scenes and I have some potentially unwelcome news for you, you're not permanent, like the rest of us you're as transient as the players. :)

English not being your first language, judging by your grammar, spelling, and lack of understanding as to what I actually posted, please let me explain.

I said Jobe is allowed to be complimentary about Dan Neil. That was it.

I agree with you re: midfields, even if it was totally irrelevant to my post.
